Changes v Adelaide

I doubt we'll come away with the win but this is definitely not the same Adelaide side as last year. If all three of Walker, McGovern and Jacobs come out we have an opportunity for a massive scalp, a la Sydney at the SCG 2015 which I feel was the turning point for the club.

Collingwood beat them convincingly over there by stifling them and taking the crowd out of it early.

I'd take Morris or Adams unconditioned over Roberts any day of the week, people wanting Roberts back in this week go back and watch his game in Adelaide last year, one of the worst games you will ever see by a bulldog player and given he has played 1 of the past 15 games since that game i guess the coaches agree. He has no matchup, too weak for walker, too slow for jenkins, no agility for Mcgovern.
Yes he had a shocker but had a pretty good 2016 final series. You can't hold one game against a player.

Hey guys, how do you rate your chances against Adelaide this week?

Personally I don't think you're out of it, possibly a 40% chance of winning. But then again because bulldogs' recent opponents have been week hard to know.

Are you guys feeling confident?
We will probably end up being flogged, even if Adelaide are not the same team as last year. We have won ugly and barely scraped home against three of the bottom four teams in the league. Adelaide will be pissed and looking to bounce back from the derby loss and always make easy work of us at their home ground. Which is why if we win, it will be a better feeling than being confident of a win, because of the shock factor, as I haven't penciled this in as a win all season :D Though if we play the way we did against Sydney, our probably one good game all season, we have a sniff.

Not too sure how many good games let alone one, Fletcher has played since that 2016 series TBH....guess us fans just have be lucky Fletch played well when it was needed in that 2016 finals series....sadly for Fletch other options now ahead of him..

Land of the giants?

Hmm I don’t believe as such, in fact I’ve only got 2 KPDs (Cordy and Moz) with wood as third tall defender.

Trengove can play ruck and back if we are getting beaten in the air and then Boyd as secondary ruck/KPF and Schache as main fall target.

So really just the one additional tall.

Dunkley for me is the one in which I’m confused by in terms of a certain role. Like I don’t have him out of the team but I think Gowers has overtaken him as a 3rd marking option, Dunkleys probably not in our top 6 - 8 midfield rotation.

As a coach I wouldn’t know what to play him as, kind of just see him as a mr fixit right now.

EDIT: also I’ve gone taller cause I would like Bont playing predominantly midfield. We need to win the midfield battle and win it well if we are to get near them.

We had 3 more inside 50's, only 4 less scoring shots and lost by 59 points. They kicked 7.0 in the 3rd quarter after leading by 3 points at HT.

Why do folks continually pick teams in hope rather than reality ? Do they watch VFL ? Read VFL ? Listen to the VFL watchers views on these pages ? The answer must be NO to all three if they are suggesting Shack gets a call up. What part of “disappeared in second half”. “Miles off AFL” etc etc do they not understand ?

Wood and Morris are automatic if fit. Plus Trengove (or Roughy, but less likely), if you bother listening to the coach
So you just need to figure out the omissions.

Could put Crozier half forward instead of out.

Can see where you are coming from and like others here, I'm not sold on him as a HBF. But as a medium sized forward he has plenty of competition at the moment. We almost have a surfeit of developing medium sized half forwards. Lipinski, Dale, Gowers, Dunkley. Then there is Clay Smith and Wallis. Jong, too, I suppose.

Hopefully Jacobs wife gives birth this weekend, even though he hasn't been the dominant ruck he used to be for a couple of years now. Will even out the ruck contest for us and give our midfield a bigger advantage in the clearances. Fingers crossed
