I.e. Rhylee West didn't play an official game today. He unofficially played. An unofficial game (medical sub) has the same effect as a preseason game. It's counted as an unofficial game, meaning it adds towards your tally for AFL life membership but that's about it.

Anyway, JJ definitely plays his 150th next week. Whether he celebrates it is a different story. I am fully aware he celebrated his 150th today.

FWIW, I'm not 100 for another 66 years but I'm thinking of celebrating the century milestone tomorrow.

I think it's just a bit hard to reconcile that JJ has gone from a Norm Smith, top-earner player, to a player that now has to be viewed in the same lens as Scott and McNeill - a true role player.

6 touches, 0 tackles, but did nab a goal and had a hand in a couple more, while most importantly, performing the role he was given on Saad. Compare his 6 touch game tonight to West's 5 touch game last week and you can clearly see why some players are kept in despite low counting stats while others have a much shorter leash.

So he wasn't really bad. But at this point it's like if Lachie McNeill was one of our highest paid players.

It's a new role for him and he was better this week than last. Hopefully the trend continues, and he gets himself more opportunities, because he's actually a pretty decent shot on goal.
Did you just say JJ is a decent shot on goal? In 50 years of watching this club it is hard for me to remember a player who butcherd the ball as much as JJ

The positive thing of having a long term coach is he puts systems in place.
Just like Richmond ,West Coast and Geelong have had for some time.
And players that play to that system generally thrive.
Those that don't are banished to play 2s. Seems to be working ..And l am now a believer in what the coach is doing.Minus making us wait for Jamarra. But nobody's perfect..
A system is more important than individuals which the Bulldogs have or had never known until recently..
JJ ,Scott, McNeil and Vandermeer are obvious examples it works..

Maybe JJ should play exclusive as a lockdown player. He needs a change of role and rebounding defenders that run are a big part of the game now so JJ locking down Amon or DBJ will go a long way to getting a win.

Hunter out Williams in
Hannan out English in

Anyone suggesting JJ out shouldn’t comment on football ever again imo .

The bloke closed Saad down nearly all day and was ok going forward.

So far from being dropped on that performance it’s not even funny

Just feel like the players I've got coming in offer more than JJ at the moment.

Naughton did not look great towards the end of the game (not just when he went down at the final siren). His calf was bandaged and the runners were coming out and he was limping. Not sure if he had a laceration to his lower leg.

Dare I say it, but Lipinski just seems to disappear at AFL level. Not sure if they've worked out where to play him. I reckon he's more inside mid than flanker.

So these are POSSIBLE changes which I'm predicting, not what I want to happen:

Out: Hunter (inj), Naughton (inj / mngd), Lipinski, Khamis

In: Wallis, English, Williams, Weightman

And the three- headed monster waits for another week.

B: Wood Keath Duryea
HB: Crozier Cordy Dale
C: Smith Wallis Macrae
HF: Treloar Bruce Johannisen
F: Hannan English McNeill
FOL: Sweet Bontempelli Liberatore

INT: Weightman Scott Williams Daniel

Don’t know much about broken hands but beveridge said something about the fourth something and pointed to the outside of the hand (little finger side). Any insights on what that likely means?
If he said 4th it’s not one of the carpal bones (short wrist bone), it’d be the fourth metacarpal (long bone of the palm). The other that are listed by number are phalanges which they would probably have told us finger.

then You haven’t watched the footy very well

he isnt elite but not close to the worst

The dogs had plenty of passengers against the blues we were saved by a great last quarter by Bont/Daniel and Josh Bruce and Libba all day with a general lift across the board.

Hunter is out and possible outs to consider are Lipinski has there ever been a worst tackler, Cordy, Hannan, Kharmis, JJ saved because he did a role on Saad.

After consideration

Outs Hunter injured, Lipinski to soft, Hannan does not do enough, Cordy
Ins English, Williams, Wallis, Weightman

If Naughton is out injured then it is hard to see us winning.

Hannan gave us nothing. Surely he’s out.

Weightman time.

well....Im starting to think our midsized players in the forward half are being judged according to their defensive intent first, their ability to help score second. So here is a list sorted by defensive pressure and score involvements.

Of the forwards, Hannan and JJ are low on this list, and for a midfield player, Smiths contribution both ways is pretty low.

Bont with 22+12 is a machine. FWIW, Sam Walsh for the blues had 38 pressure acts and 9 scoring involvements :-O

Couple posts on Twitter re Naughtons calf but Bevo said in presser we got through fine except Hunter. Anyone heard anything?
He looked very very sore post game. Took a couple of minutes to get up following the siren but eventually did and walked with a very slight limp. No idea what it was but given the contest involved just before the siren I would suggest a corkie, but pure speculation.

Did JJ actually play a defensive role on Saad, or are we just speculating? Saad had no influence but I'm not sure if that was a direct result of JJ or people are just trying to justify his performance.

6 touches isn't good enough, but he did kick a goal and hand off 2 very important goal assists with very good long kicks. Hard to get a read on his game.

He did yep. Then when Saad tried to go up the ground apparently Caleb followed him around a little. We completely stopped his run.
