Rd 7 Changes vs Freo

Compare to other HFF types, it's well below average for conversion. The same thing goes for his delivery to players lace out - he lacks composure/skill at the point of kicking at full pace.
Have you ever tried kicking after a full sprint?
VDM w 36 "sprints" in a game? Its a wonder he can kick at all. Jeebus give him a break

Amazing the confidence the "experts" have in Freo giving the dogs the heave ho.

One article even suggested Weightman, JUH (who isn't even playing) and Naughton need to kick 10 between them.

That's around what Freo have scored on average for the last month 🤪
Is it just Young out? If they're nearly full strength we've got a real shot but if they bring in some kids and rookies we will lose 60+

Is he playing football or athletics? If you can’t kick after running too fast, something’s got to give. Either slow down to kick and risk being caught or kick better running fast, every footballer from Marngrook to now has this to work out.

Bevo spoke on rewarding form last week when questioned by reporters, if he stays true to his word, Lobb and Garcia must stay.

I’d like to see Richards and Garcia get spells in the middle each quarter at some point, both for their own benefit and the teams too.
I think so too but I feel like Bevo will revert back to Richards in defence to fit our main 4 mids in the middle.

It’s a very good plan B to have up our sleeves though for when we need to mix it up a little in-game.

Richards should be in mid rotations after last week, that is his future. Garcia too. Libba, Bont and Treloar need support. Macrae, Richards and Garcia are that support. Use them.

Richards at HB or BP will just fly against Khamis, Jones and O'Donnell like the Bombers debacle where they got in each other's way.

Richards is now a mid. He will win awards and the people's enduring admiration as a mid. He is the heir apparent.

No reason he can't play defence with a couple CBAs per quarter when others are on the bench or some speed is needed on the inside, same as West should be doing from the front half.

Emmett to kick 5 and win the Majak Daw award.

I’d like to have a break glass in case of emergency when a team gets a couple of CBA clearances in a row. Change it up immediately rather than roll with the usual crew.

The threat of speed and burst from the middle should be a constant imo. We haven't had nearly enough of that in recent times and it has had both offensive and defensive impacts.

Not enough offensive speed to burst and break lines giving the opposition one less thing to worry about and plan for to any great degree.

Defensively, being left in the wake of quick bursting, breaking and spreading opposition mids who either gallop to 50 and score themselves or hit up the loose I50 that the panic and scramble of their incision has created.

I agree with Mojo. Richards is now essentially a full time mid and the conversation moves to who takes his place at half back.

This looms as another key game in for our season after losing to the bombers. Win this and would think we are 6/3 after 9 games we should be beating the hawks and tigers. That gives us chance with a lot of tough games to come.

What is disappointing we could not have had a much softer draw (except swapping the roos for the cats or demons) in our first 9 games and we needed to be 7/2 or better.

Oh well could have, should have we did not so we just need to win this week. However, it is hard to see us better than a 5 to 8 team and if things go bad we could be alot worst. After round 9 we probably start clear favourites in 3 games.

B: Ed Richards, Liam Jones, Bailey Dale
HB: Taylor Duryea, Buku Khamis, Jason Johannisen
C: Bailey Williams, Adam Treloar, James Harmes
HF: Laith Vandermeer, Aaron Naughton, Rhylee West
F: Sam Darcy, Rory Lobb, Cody Weightman
FOLL: Tim English, Marcus Bontempelli, Tom Liberatore
INT: James O’Donnell, Jack Macrae, Lachie Bramble, Harvey Gallagher, Riley Garcia
EMG: Caleb Daniel, Caleb Poulter, Alex Keath

In: Tom Liberatore
Out: Ryley Sanders (omitted)

Don't love Sanders out. Its probably fair enough based on last week alone, would've been harsh to leave any of the 22 out who were very, very good against the Saints and everyone seemed to get involved. Thought Sanders was doing really well before being subbed out and that last weeks subbing was harsh but he'll be fine and back in the 22 before long. Interested to see whether he plays the VFL praccy game or rests instead.

Libba in, Richards back, Bramble sub seems to make sense. Bevo is loving Bramble though, so could be someone else.

Think the issue with Sanders is that he plays his best in the middle. And we just can’t / don’t give him enough time in there to develop.
