Re: Batram and Martin out

I must have watched a different game to you. Dunn was solid but not special and Bruce was in our top 5, was clearly our best defender .

u shud see the amount of time he passed to flatfooted players and then we turned the ball over... hes a ball magnet who doesnt know how to use the ball properly...

its just their decision making with the ball that pisses me off...

Joel Mac was worse. Again Bruce was our best defender by far and you want to drop him. get a grip man.

Are you serious? Bruce cant play defence, simply.. cos he cant DEFEND.

He's completely unaccountable and shirks the hard contest.

joel mac??? why bcuz of the free kicks he gave away?? you seriously dont know how to judge a players influence in the game.... its not all about stats and free kick againsts..

get an understanding on how to analyse a player's game

Out:

Martin, Warnock, Bruce, Petterd (inj)

In:

McKenzie, Bail, Watts, Strauss

Not happy at all right now.

:(

Are you a child. I'm glad you're not in charge at Melbourne.

You want to drop our CHF,FB,HBF and our FF is injuried.

To bring in a mid, forward pocket, I don't know yet, and Back pocket.

OUT- Pettard. stop trying to take mark of the year.
Possible Martin, Rivers.

In- possible Bail,Maric,Miller,McKenzie.

2nd quarter kicks to 2 norf players goal. another time kicks from deep in the defence to the corridor where there's 3 norf players goal. Bruce was our best backman.Fact.

how else is petterd going to take a grab when the ball is bombed into packs? hes not exactly a tall forward

This is the way i would line up the side next week assuming Petterd wont be playing due to injury.

B: Macdonald, Frawley, Bartram
HB: Rivers, Garland, Grimes
C: Davey, McDonald, Scully
HF: Bail, Bate, Sylvia
FF: Bennell, Green, Dunn
R: Jamar, Jones, McKenzie

Int: Watts, Strauss, Moloney, Trengove

Quoted for epic stupidity.

Get used to it. Happens with unfortunate regularity.

What I want to know is, has Bennell done enough to keep his spot? Looking at the stats from yesterday, he had a respectable 16-odd touches. Not bad for a small forward, until you find out that 10 of them were in the 3rd quarter.

Those stats reek of a Front-Runner to me.

It's unfortunate, because I reckon he's a class player, but IMO he's lucky the other small forwards have been injured up til now.

Maric and Jetta are both playing for Casey now, with Maric apparently having a good game last week. Bail deserves to come back in as well.

Does he keep his spot?

Maybe he needs to go back to Casey and return to that running half-back role which he played so well last year - IMO that's where he should be long-term given Wonna, Jetta, (Davey) and Maric all have claims on that FP spot.

Re: Batram and Martin out

Jinny and MFC, enough of the name-calling, or detention for both of you on Monday afternoon.

Also, merged the Bartram and Martin thread with this one.

It would be stupid to play Watts against the Dogs. Brian Lake would tear him a new one and it would do nothing for his confidence. Jack needs more time playing for Casey and he, like everyone else, needs to earn his spot. It may take time but it will be worth waiting for and from what I have been told Jack completely understands that. Those of you who have asked "was he picked to play footy or not?" should remember that he was playing against kids so he needs to be given time to bulk up and learn to play against men. As a key position player it is a totally new kettle of fish so give the kid time

I really wish Dunn's skills were better because he could be a player - he so often misses very easy shots at goal and misses targets by foot and hand..he needs to really focus on that aspect of his footy but I'd keep him in the side for now.

I would much rather stick Garland up forward in place of Pettered than bring in a bloke (i.e. Miller) who has been consistently average throughout his entire career. Why go backwards when our form turnaround started as soon as we dropped Miller? Miller should never be put back in the side as he is not part of our future....he can surf on the weekend if he plays for the Gold Coast...

Its amazing how many teams have emulated what we did last week against the Lions. The Roos and the Bombers have both played very similar footy to what we did last week through pressure on the ball carrier and the play on at all cost mentality. We were VERY stop/start against the Roos. We'd take a mark and walk back to take the kick whereas against the Dogs we hardly did that the whole day. We also stood back and watched the ball carrier alot against the Roos and we need to ensure that doesn't happen against the Dogs...pressure, pressure, pressure... We need to persist with that brand of footy for the rest of the year starting this week.

McKenzie,

Martin

Unless Rodney Eade is suffering "Senile Sheedy Syndrome" then Brian Lake won't go anywhere near Watts.

He would go to Green or Sylvia, why on earth would you think that Eade would send his best defender to Watts?

Hell even if he for some magical reason did send Lake to Watts, it would give Green or Sylvia one of there lesser defenders.

Re: Batram and Martin out

Are you serious? Bruce cant play defence, simply.. cos he cant DEFEND.

He's completely unaccountable and shirks the hard contest.

Bruce is a great shutdown player, its a massive strength of his. get a clue.

He has been struggling to adapt to the gameplan but its obvious he is the whipping boy and easy target on here because he is one of the few without the 'youth' tag. He has not set the world on fire this year but has hardly been terrible

My presence in the crowd :( Of all our games this year that I've been too, this is the one I'd love to go to the most but I have hockey....

FFFFUUUUUUUUU

I don't really want Watts to come in. Not only did he have a shocker in the seconds (16 possessions and one goal when he spent the whole day up forward, he'll get owned by Lake/Morris. He's just not ready, be patient guys.

As a replacement for Petterd, I'm thinking Morton if he comes back, you can play around with the positioning.

Is Meesen fit? Wouldn't he be a better option to replace Martin? Wouldn't mind seeing Gawn though :S And McKenzie has to walk-up, if fit.

I wonder if Trenners will get another tag...

Unfortunately, Bruce may well go the same way as Yze, Robbo, White, Wheatley and Whelan. Bruce will not be in our best 22 next year.

Gawn and Meese both still injured. Looking likely that Johnson will replace The SME.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!

This is about the 4th post of someone saying Lake will go to Watts, Rodney Eade is not a ******ed monkey.

Lake and Morris would go to Green and Sylvia, they would not match up on Watts.

Also as I've repeatedly stated, nothing is stopping Watts from being a solid contributer at AFL level. Size is stopping him from being the big bodied forward where our midfield can just bomb a high long ball and hope he crashes the pack to take the mark, however with our current set-up that won't happen and he has the speed and skills to play a different role in the team.

I just want to SEE Watts in action, hearing VFL reports without anything to watch personally is frustrating. Same with Gysberts, hopefully an opening comes up sometime soon. Wouldn't be too suprised if one of the Scullgove had a 'general soreness' game in which Gysberts came in sometime soonish.

Speaking of Gysberts... Mclean - 12 disposals, 5 clangers. Thanks Carlton!

Interesting that Wonna got 3 goals and amongst the best in Casey ... Reserves. But he's still probably a week or two behind even being rushed back in, which is a pity, as with Peterd out, he's a more than useful forward.

Out: Rivers In: McKenzie
Out: Petterd (inj) In: Bail

On notice: Martin, Bruce, Dunn, Macdonald
Emergencies: Miller, Cheney, Gysberts

FB: Bartram Warnock Frawley
HB: Grimes Garland Bruce
C: Scully Moloney Davey
HF: Bail Bate Trengove
FF: Sylvia Green Bennell
Foll: Jamar McDonald McKenzie
Int: Martin, Jones, Macdonald, Dunn

Gameplan: back to the basics with a lot more pressure and tackling (hence the inclusions of Bail and McKenzie). The forward line remains small, but I'd rather go small up forward, and for one more week keep Martin as the second ruck. Despite the fact that I times I think he's not worth the effort, I still think we should be attempting to develop a second ruckman - be that Martin or Spencer at the moment. If PJ gets back in the team or in a few weeks we decide that Newton or Dunn are better backups for Jamar then so be it.

+1 for sentiments that we need a second ruckmen, doesn't have to set the world on fire, just be serviceable. Haven't seen PJ play for a while but at the moment it seems that him, juice or possibly dunn are the best options.
