Williams is still a long way away. He will not play a match for AT LEAST 4-5 weeks. And when he does finally return it will be through Box Hill.
Unfortunately he's knee is not mending as quick as first expected. He has had swellen over the last couple. If he does return, it may only be Round 22 earliest, if not finals if the Hawks make it.
Is boyle ready?
only drop players if they are injured
Breaking news before it breaks: Clinton Young will not be dropped for Launceston.
He was one of our better players last night and as I wrote in another thread, My Man was one of few Hawks who appeared to come out to play against the Crows in Adelaide only 16 days ago.
Come on Garry, you are being bias...Young did a few good things last night, but was an absolute disgrace in contests. He had a chance to spoil Kosi in a marking contest 10 metres out from goal, but he gave up even before the ball was in Kosi's hands. There were a few other pitiful attempts when in came to contact.
Don't get me wrong, Young is an excellent player in my opinion, but has to have a hard look at himself when it comes to contested possessions....
I think you know this yourself, as you were quick to jump to his defence before anyone could have a crack. (and I was going to get on here and blast him before I read your post)
There are some pretty poor figures on our players statistics this week.
Crawford only had 13 Touches!!!Not good enough Crawf!! At least Young had 23, one of the best on ground. He had the third most touches..He certainly wasn't the worst player!!We would be foolish to drop him next week. If we keep dropping players that perform poorly one week, we will never get any consistency in our team.
The only player I think isn't worth another game is Thurgood, I love his endeavour, but he is simply not up to AFL standard!
i'd say next week in terms of match ups of the kangas forwards it would be croad vs petire, gilham vs brown, brown vs jones sewell vs grant(killed him last time) ladson vs whyman, birchall maybe on grant or jones depending on weather they might deploy sewell on harvey, this leaves big hale who plays alot up forward aswell as ruck would you all think jacobs would come in for him i know his not tall enought but i cant think of anyone else.
McMahon has been a major link man up forward. Dermie commented on the radio a few weeks ago that he is playing more like a 100+ game forward than a 5 game player. He has been a major problem to opposition teams during the last month, he has kicked 2.0 (Bulldogs), 2.1 (Tigers), 1.1 (Fremantle, got a bad corky), 3.1 (Demons) and has set up a lot of goals for other forwards.
Grant plays half-forward but usually presses into the middle, leaving a bit more room up forward. He hasn't really been used as a traditional forward for a while, I think he has 2 goals from the last 6 matches.
Hale may be a hard match-up for you guys. He has been moving very well and is a decent mark and kick, at 200cm a lot of teams have issues finding someone who can legitimate spoil him.
