Seriously, get Ah Chee in there to Shaun Grigg it. He's very strong for his size, has a great vertical leap and is agile. Darling rucks when the ball is up forward, Gov does it in defence and Ah Chee does it around the ground when nicnat is off. Gets him right in the thick of the action and will offer more than Vardy and stops us from going too tall.

In: Kyle Allen

That solves our issue of being too tall. Allen to rest and Jones to come in.O Allen sporting an arm splint at training today.

I don't entirely agree with the assertion that Petch didn't apply pressure, at least not in the manner it has so far been put forward here. Easy to look at his tackle count and feel uninspired, but realistically tackles are not much of a reliable way to measure pressure from a forward.
In Sunday's game we laid 34 tackles for the match (and the Suns 39). This is less than what we averaged last season, in shortened games. In 2019 our side averaged 58 tackles.
There were 145 to 137 marks taken on the weekend, and the game was played with (what might once have been) exceptional width and steadiness from both sides. In 2019 we averaged 99 marks and the Suns 87.
I'm happy for people to claim Petruccelle didn't apply enough pressure (or get enough ball...) if they have notions to support that, but I don't think having 1 tackle is one of them. Langdon had 1 tackle. Cripps had 1 tackle. Ryan had 2. NN, Cole, 'Mongrel' Nelson and Shepp had 1 tackle. Duggan didn't lay one. No-one got more than 3 of the things!! Only 11 i50 tackles were laid all afternoon by either side.
Additionally, while I'm absolutely slaying campaigners with facts: I see people bemoaning that we don't move the ball with enough dare or excitement, while also being underwhelmed by the ability for our forwards and mids to lock the ball in the forward 50. It's curious because these things largely act in opposition, and Simpson said that too often we moved with abandon and swiftness, causing us to be hurt on the rebound and unable to establish meaningful field position.
Good points.
The heat factor makes it hard to assess things properly. And without Ainsworth, Petch is the next whipping boy.
Geez, even runner-up whipping boy Nelson doesn't get his whipping boy credit.
