There isn’t a player in the league whose ankle wouldn’t have rolled under those circumstances, landed badly then had a 100kg player fall on it. Nothing to do with weak ankles, all to do with bad luck.

His ankle is more than likely fractured. Not just rolled. Likely a medial ankle tear as well.

My concern is this will now severely impact his pre-season and may also push his delicate ankles over into a career killer rather than a hindrance.

In a perverse way, the fibula is the lesser (evil) of the two. A broken tibula can be career ending. Let's hope there is little if any signifcant ligament damage.

Maybe - depends where the break was. If it is right at the base of the foot then there could be issues.

I broke mine when I dislocated my ankle. The twisting force is relieved by snapping the fibula higher up the bone ( about 3/4 of the way up). The surgeon told me it would heal no worries and I was in a cast for 4 or 6 weeks. But he said if I broke it at the base of the foot I wold have been in a lot more pain and would have required a pin in it and a more complicated process. Looking at the incident, I reckon Charlie has broken it near the base. Hopefully not right at the base.

When I first saw it, I thought it was a high ankle injury.
