Hately is underwhelming? He played well at sanfl level (as you would expect for a 3rd year mid) and should come into the afl side this week. There is a good player here.
A good player is a player delivering on a consistent basis at AFL level. If he's given an opportunity and he achieves that then I would call him a good player. Ultimately you need to perform week in week out in the AFL to be a good player.

Agreed, but far too early to be calling him underwhelming.

It's very simple, he plays SANFL until he demands AFL selection. No gifting him a game after 5 possessions and 'playing through him' to get him involved.

At the end of the year if he hasn't come close to AFL footy we delist him and move on. He is probably contracted but who cares, he wouldn't be on a lot and it's not like he will help our SANFL team be competitive.

It's a darn shame, but not all promising juniors kick on. Learn from it and move on.

Is he playing midfield? still 5 pos in the SANFL when if you are any good you should be bale to get 20+ even more so in a bad side. I would be surprised if the Crows delist him this fast even if he still looks a bust at end of season.

Hately is still basically a kid (turns 21 in October and is younger than McHenry/Sholl/Jones). IMO, too many judge him on the basis that he is a readymade player.

Chayce is contracted to 2023. Much more chance of him being traded, than delisted.

Good to hear about Chayce as well - Club has to exhaust all avenues to get him up and running, not just do the same sh*t every week and hope it comes good for him.

Half back flank is a start, again, make him our exit avenue - play through him at every opportunity.

I also really like the idea of taking him as the injury sub this week, just to break up the grind and give a bit of a reset.

Yep, found Nicks comments around this impressive (again). Has been back watching tape of him in the juniors - sees the weapons, knows whats been invested and looking for ways to make it work.

Didn't think so but could be wrong. Definitely already tried him midfield, wing, and half forward. Aren't many spots left tbh.
They tried him at HB in one game in the back end of 2020. Can't remember exactly which game. He still didn't find the ball. Mind you I have no beefs with them trying this again. It would be silly to just keep doing the same shit over and over and expecting different results. Try him in a few different spots and see how he goes.

I like the way they're handling him, to be honest. They're pretty upfront about the fact that it's not working at the moment, but they're also acknowledging that there is talent there and it's in everyone's interest to change things up and try to find a way to unearth it, rather than just doggedly sticking to what isn't working.

Trade him and move him on would be the best for both sides.
He’ll never come good here, so we either keep him until he has zero value of trade him now whilst he still has potential.
A no-brainer if you take the emotion out.

He already has no trade value.
Disagree, there will be a club that was very keen on him in his draft year that will drop a second or late second.
It’s the same every draft, as long as you cash out early enough
Hold on that little bit too long and they would have filled that gap and the value disappears.

you're dreaming...no way he would draw a 2nd rounder at this point.

We just have to persist with Chayce and hope he finds the potential he'd shown as a draftee.

No chance anyone drops a second on him.
None. Not unless his form spikes massively.

Thought we’ve already tried him there?
Only played part of 1 game... when we got an injury to a defender from memory.

Thought he went ok... so worth giving him a decent run.

Unless his form turns around in a big way, there's no way we'd get a second rounder for him, not even a late second. He hasn't shown enough at AFL level and can't find the ball in the SANFL. Clubs will opt to wait it out and pick him up as a DFA at the end of 2023.

He's contracted, if someone wants him they'll pay a second. O

why would anyone want him though?.. he’s barely sanfl level.

best we just hold onto him and play him in the sanfl for the remainder of his contract and then, if nothing changes, delist him..

can we shift him mid contract into a rookie spot at seasons end?.. so we can atleast free up a list spot.
