What should the penalty be?

The fines are paid with monopoly money. It's not real.

The soft cap seems appropriate and proportionate.
Plus a draft sanction. This is bringing the game into disrepute and there is compelling evidence of putting a player at risk and in evading the protocols for the other player. How is the risk any less than Essendon ?

What I don’t understand is the focus on the doctor and his medical judgement

That’s irrelevant. It doesn’t matter what he assessed or thought

A significant part of the protocol is prescriptive and written in layman’s terms - and in this case it falls within the defined prescribed elements

If XYX happens then you MUST do ABC

it’s not a matter of medical expertise or judgement

In these cases XYZ certainly happened, so the protocol is clear

A lot of people aren’t referring to the what the protocol says and demands.

A good number of these people may or may not be on other boards

Port to change their story to Lachy Jones and Aliir werent actually playing on Saturday night... it was two random players Geelong fans pretending to be port players who need to be investigated for impersonating Lachy Jones and Aliir Alirr.
Fixed that for you.

The HIA on Alir wasn’t skipped, it was the SCAT5 test that was skipped.
Happy to be corrected but that is my understanding from this mess of Port’s creation

I am actually not aware myself, I have just heard that for the assessment to take place it would require 15mins off the field and he was back on in 8....anywho....risking a severe injury (now or in the future) for the sake of 15mins....after that incident, I just dont understand why the Dr wouldnt cover his butt (if anything else)

I'm pretty sure it was just Tex saying "they're down at least one big man now, your effin time to shine mate".

I don't think he was angry as much as focused and trying to generate emotion. Don't feel bad for them being injured, take advantage of it, etc.
He's giving TT firm bum pats at the same time. Definitely looks more a rev up than a serve.

Edit

The club servant doctor decided he didn't need to do SCAT5 test because our forward line was killing them already but the game was close.

The major risk the club servant doctor was concerned with was losing the four points against us and mitigating the risk of a loss against Geelong next week.

Hence the reason to classify Jones as a migraine, so he could also play next week.

On SM-A325F using BigFooty.com mobile app

Someone commented on social media, after Jones was subbed off as having a migraine, that if he had a migraine he would be in a quiet dark room, not wanting to sit out with a loud crowd and under lights. I have never suffered a migraine (thankfully) but have friends who do and they can barely sit up without being sick

It kinda was skipped though because if it was done then he would have had a SCAT5.

It’s a bit like saying you’ve mowed the lawns by looking at your overgrown grass, walking into the shed and looking at the mower, then going for a swim.

The protocol did not allow for discretion in that situation; there was no ability to decide not to conduct the Scat5

It was mandatory given the circumstances

Hot take from the Port Power board............

Apparently the Crows camp was far more detrimental to the health and safety of the players than deliberately ignoring concussion protocols.

That's one of the most stupid takes I have ever heard.

Everyone agrees that the camp was a really poor decision, however the club had no idea what the fall out was going to be and if they had of known I imagine that they would not have gone ahead with it.

Yet Port are fully aware of the dangers of concussions and yet they have repeatedly ignored protocols by sending players back on the field without testing in order to try and win games.

So which club is more negligent in terms of health and safety? The one who held a camp that wasn't aware there would be any psychological impact on the players or the club that advocates for concussed players to be sent back on the field without any due take being taken.

I don't you have to be Rhodes Scholar to know which club is more negligent. You also would be hard pressed to find anyone who actually believes that attending a camp is far more damaging than potentially putting a player in a position where their risk increases of developing CTE later on in life.
Look, the camp wasn't great. But it's not even remotely the same thing. And we've sacked most people involved.
They can play this down all they want, if they aren't concerned about how their club treats it's players that's their problem. Their own and other players will be paying attention

Port supporters often forget that if this exact situation to us, they would want blood.
If we lost the Showdown and made a fiasco of the concussion protocols they would be frothing at the mouth.

Poorly written? They've both got up and walked off the ground. Port has to do an HIA first to determine if the SCAT5 needs to be done. Surely once it's established the SCAT5 needs to be done is when the AFL interchange official is notified? 15 minutes start from there?

Was it Bailey Smith in R1 that didn't have the HIA test done? What was the outcome of that?

This is lots of "words" to cover backsides by port. Anything to take the stink off

Sad but true.

All jokes aside, I actually had a migraine on Sunday mid morning which lasted the entire day.

I was so sick, I couldnt even make myself a cup of tea.

Correct me if I am wrong, but if your stretchered off its automatic 20mins off?

It wouldnt surprise me if they are told always walk off unofficially.
That's the point I made yesterday. They used to make every player who'd had a head clash lay still, get the neck brace on and get stretchered off. Since the automatic 20 minute protocol came into place, it seems like they encourage the players to get up and walk off. The whole thing stinks.

That was in relation to the point being made - asking whether 15 mins was the duration.

There is nothing poorly written in this:

Port Adelaide takes this impersonation very seriously and will investigate who made up their suad of 22 on Saturday night
They had 22 impostors on the field that night
