port have gone with the theory of its easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission route. its risky..

I hope I don't see any of that "take the high road" stuff from our supporters this time around. This goes beyond simple football rivalry. These campaigners deserve everything they get.If we lost the Showdown and made a fiasco of the concussion protocols they would be frothing at the mouth.
A fine is not adequate. Draft picks or premiership points need to be removed.I hope I don't see any of that "take the high road" stuff from our supporters this time around. This goes beyond simple football rivalry. These campaigners deserve everything they get.
It is honestly unbelievable how they came to the conclusion that Aliir was ok to go back on without a full assessment. If they'd just done that, and then said he'd passed the test, this wouldn't be the issue it has now become. It is incompetence - or worse, trying to negate the protocol - of the highest order.
Exactly my thought the moment Aliir went back on the field. What I don’t understand is the focus on the doctor and his medical judgement
That’s irrelevant. It doesn’t matter what he assessed or thought
A significant part of the protocol is prescriptive and written in layman’s terms - and in this case it falls within the defined prescribed elements
If XYX happens then you MUST do ABC
it’s not a matter of medical expertise or judgement
In these cases XYZ certainly happened, so the protocol is clear
A lot of people aren’t referring to the what the protocol says and demands.
A good number of these people may or may not be on other boards
He literally must have been the only person at the ground who didn't think they needed to do a SCAT5 test. What WAS he watching?"Like Lachie, Aliir's condition was the subject of testing both on Saturday night after the game and since," club doctor Mark Fisher said in a statement.
"However, upon reviewing the vision of the incident again, Aliir should have undergone SCAT testing at the time immediately following the collision.
"Both Lachie and Aliir will have a gradual return to play as per the AFL's concussion management guidelines."
The clash happened RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE ******* BENCH as though you needed to review the footage again. FMD. Time to suspend the doctor, and work out whether stripping draft point or assistant positions is the worst way to hurt them
FFS doctor is meant to err on the side of caution too when in doubt. He literally must have been the only person at the ground who didn't think they needed a SCAT5 test. What WAS he watching?
No one thought to question whether Alliir was actually ok to go back on either after seeing that hit. Well, apart from the 50,000 people not on the Port bench. You can't convince me that they all weren't in on itHe literally must have been the only person at the ground who didn't think they needed a SCAT5 test. What WAS he watching?
Maybe not, but they still wouldn't have given him a concussion test. Wanted him to play this weekIf this happened in the last Qtr when the game was well and truly over i can tell you now that port would NOT have put Aliir back on.
My daughter got a concussion about a month ago. Her doctor told us to avoid contact sport for 5 weeks not 5 minutesFFS doctor is meant to err on the side of caution too when in doubt.

Ken didn't think he needed one either. He was happy to put him straight back on.He literally must have been the only person at the ground who didn't think they needed a SCAT5 test. What WAS he watching?
All these journos seem to be missing a key point here. Port also tried to palm Jones off as a migraine rather than concussion.
This ^^^^^Cornes stated on SEN that Port made a mistake, this wasnt a mistake.
This was Port making the priority of winning the Showdown at any cost even at the detriment of the players health and safety.
If the AFL dont send a message, it will happen again in the Finals series.
They were not only thinking about the showdown where they wanted Alir on the ground, but they had an eye on the Geelong game and wanted both to be available..shame for them they got caught..againAll these journos seem to be missing a key point here. Blatantly trying to cheat the rules to suit the club at the expense of player welfare.
By the way - Amazing how silent the AFLPA has been on this.

IIRC Aliir was only off the ground for 6mins?The irony is that I'm pretty sure Port outscored Adelaide in the period when Aliir was off the ground. They would have been better off statying with 18 players with their full faculties

And heads need to roll. Starting with that Dr Nick impersonator.

Absolute guarantee that Kane's angle - after getting his lines from the club - will be that the doc got it wrong, but was put in a difficult situation with two of his own players being knocked out simultaneously and it was too difficult to manage.
Exactly. This was no mistake. It was intentional disregard of deathly serious safety protocols laid down by the AFL.Cornes stated on SEN that Port made a mistake, this wasnt a mistake.
