Chris Davies is one person who wants ken to stay on because if ken employed so is Davies. Both are joke! 9 Years with Ken and we heard every year we will be doing an internal review what review its basically blame players and ken gets away with a new pending slogan for the 2021 season.

It's not up to Chris Davies as to whether Ken remains employed at the Club. Can say with a great amount of certainty that Ken's contract status would be looking a lot different if it were.

This makes me like CD even more.

What's the next rung on the ladder for him? Hopefully something that keeps him at Port.

When Hinkley lost our home Prelim by 12 goals and say he would not change anything about the preparation, starting midfield or tactics. And Davies and Kochie sit back and tell us we in a good space going forward under ken we have some real problems. One thing Kochie at the helm is brings zero accountability

Ken saying he wouldn't have changed the starting midfield set up, even retrospectively, is a huge red flag.

Ken not starting a different midfield that night is a p*** poor reason for what happened for the whole game. I get that he didn't want to go negative like he's been accused of in the past and wanted to get on the front foot. From what I understand, Drew came on after they only had two goals on the board.
What happened for the rest of the match is what really needs to be scrutinised.

A big FU to everyone and “brown sticky note” reminder of his “untouchable” contract status.

Interesting that CD said we’ll review *everything*, yet Ken’s already made up his mind. Sounds suspiciously like dysfunction to me. Shame the midfield line coach of the day won’t be around to tell his part of the story.

After all these redemptive narratives about AFL coaches and playing groups who were loyally persevered with and finally “saw the light” at some post season review type moment. Bomber/Cats 2006, Dimma 2016, this… smugness in the face of embarrassment is just about the biggest insult imaginable to Port fans.

You need to understand context.

Davies doesnt get to decide whether Ken says or goes. So when he's in a press conference representing the club, he is only going to remain confident in Ken because that is currently the club's position. Same goes for saying in that press conference that we are well positioned moving forward.

Could.you imagine if he actually said "jeez Ken had a shocker on the weekend hes gotta go," and "this team has plenty of holes in it - not sure if they can all be addressed in one off season." Now THAT would be a story and a half - and you'd probably be reading about Davies' dismissal within 24 hours of said press conference.

I know that people want to hear what the footy dept likes of CD are really thinking, but you're just never going to get that in any press conference.

I know someone close to a board member - wanted ken gone 2017 when it nearly happened....... you'll never hear them say it publicly.

Unpopular opinion, but I don't hold it against Hinkley for choosing the starting midfield he did in the PF. He backed in his most experienced players in Boak, Wines, and Gray to get the job done. I can't blame him for wanting to take the game on from the outset rather than going defensive.

I still want him sacked though.

That’s right, CD has no say in the firing of a coach. What’s more, his job is to support the coach- ie, make sure the coach has what he needs to succeed.

CD is not there to bag the coach.

I would have liked to have brought Mark Stone to Port as a midfield structure coach. Glenelg were very impressive in their centre square set ups. Alas Brisbane took him.

But I would expect that role will be high on CD's list. Seeing as he is only allowed to tinker around the edges.

Agree.

Hiring and firing of the coach is a Board decision based upon a recommendation from the CEO.

CD has done an exemplary job in giving Hinkley everything he needs to be successful. The fact that Hinkley can't deliver on his side of the bargain is not CD's fault. I wouldn't be surprised if he privately thinks Hinkley's not up to the job like the rest of us 10% do.

He can make recommendations though. This is his 7th year. Hinkley has been unnecessarily extended twice whilst CD has been GM of football. I'm having serious doubts.

Does mean Koch, oops board will listen

True but surely he would have some input. I've always liked CD but as I said, I'm having some doubts.
How do you know he hasnt? By the mere fact that Ken is still there you are presuming that CD loves him, and wants him to stay? That conclusion is so anecdotally flawed, its not funny! There is no doubt that Keith Thomas & Koch were the architects behind the re-appointments of Hinkley. IMO, CD and Richo have an entirely different view. Unless we have a flag next year, I recon things will be very different next time around.

Where did I say or presume CD loves him?

Maybe you should get someone to sit down with you and explain the org chart and how it all works. Aren't you the same bloke who suggested that Ollie didn't like Voss because Voss embarrassed him by wrestling with him at training?

Semantics Powerlil ... You are accusing CD of wanting Ken to remain as coach. IE: That he approves of, and at least likes Ken, in that role for no reason other than you havent heard him publicly call Ken out!

Hey, we are all hurting over the crappy end to this season that offered so much, but we all need to keep some rationality. Some of the emotional reactions here are just over the top, like the thread calling Boak an underachiever - started straight after the defeat on Saturday night.

Thats why I stayed away from Bigfooty for a few days after the match ... until I had calmed down enough not to kick the TV screen in.

I'm not into bagging our players. Ken has been there 9 years, CD 7. Draw whatever conclusions you like.

You've calmed down to that level already?

I think mines still in danger.

Who needs Voss? Voss moved away from midfield and Schofield coached Wines = Brownlow.

Voss brought nothing. So start talking reality and that's CD Hinkley are one hand washes the other and board is absolutely weak 9 years of failure

Pardon the pun but you’re very black and white aren’t you. Not a lot of critical thought going on. Saying Voss brought “nothing” means you’re not prepared to listen to the players, coaching staff or management. I rate Schofield but I don’t think I’ve heard Ollie mention him once in the past two days, whereas he’s called Ken “the biggest influence on my career” and thanked Voss for the impact he’s had over the past few years. I’ll be happy see Voss move on as I feel like he and we will be better for the change but I’m also willing to listen to those who have worked with him.
Anyway, not the point, the point was your comment on “Chris Davies wants ken to stay on because if ken employed so is Davies”. That’s not how it works.
