Chris Judd off to Carlton

sweet17, finally found someone who is talking sense.....

At the and of the day i feel it may just be, pick 3 and 20 (rough onteh eagles i know).

Cant see Judd ending up anywhere else (unless someone loses the plot) except carlton. Really cant, the odds are stacked that way too.

fact - pick 3 and kennedy wont do it woosh has already said that

Listen, the Melbourne clubs aren't really dealing with the Eagles. They're dealing against the other Melbourne clubs. Judd is leaving. That is a fact. The Melbourne clubs only need to out bid eachother. The Eagles..... well beggers can't be chooses. By 1pm on the Friday of trade week they'll have all their offers layed out infront of them.... They can take the best, or take nothing.

If there's a better (genuine) offer out there than 3 and Kennedy, I'll be fascinated to see it...

what do you think judds reaction would be if he saw that offer and realized carlton arent really that interested in him playing for them?

"you are the best in the business juddy, but your not worth more than pick 3 and an unproven younster"

im sure he would be feelin the love then

I doubt he would think that.

To be honest I really don't think he would want carlton to give up pick 1 or Fevola.

Remember Judd wants to play for a successful club. He won't want any club (whether that be Collingwood /Essendon/Carlton/Melbourne) to trade away their future for him. While I don't think he wants to screw WC, if it came to screwing WC or scewing his new club, I have no doubt which one he would chose.

???

You do understand the draft don't you? You realise where Franklin, Hodge etc came from. The same place Kennedy, Walker, Gibbs, Murphy, Kreuzer come from. Add Judd and Carlton will be playing finals for most, if not all of Judds last 7-8 seasons.
You named 6 players, and the jury's out on Kennedy (and Walker is just ok). Add Waite and that's 7 players. Stevens makes 8 (and he's a soft receiver). Last i heard u needed 30 good players to be a good finals team. blues are still a LONG way off.

I doubt he would think that.
why not? if you dont want to pay what he is worth to get him, you obviously dont want him that much. if you will only agree to take him for **** all, then he can reasonably assume that to you he is worth **** all.

he has no new club at this stage, he only has a relationship with WC, one where he has alot of mates.

if carlton refuse to offer a fair deal and only offer deals that rip off west coast, what do you think judd will do? shrug his shoulders and say "even though the team is full of my good mates, i think ill help my new team **** them right in the ass"

i think you misunderstand what kind of guy judd is. hes an adult and a professional, not a immature halfwit like alot people on these boards

"I know pick 3 and kennedy is ripping off WC, but judd will just go into the PSD if they dont accept it, because he loves carlton now"

right. some of you people amaze me.

Carlton should definately not throw the farm at WC for Judd.

Make a decent offer pick 3 and Kennedy and if the eagles don't want that its not really that much of a concern for us.

When I think about it, while Judd is Judd, we really need a tough inside player, from WC I think if we had the choice of any player we would have to look long and hard if it was really Judd we wanted, or Kerr.

What we really need is just need another hard body in the mid field and that will help heaps. While Judd would do this, their are other players and we could end up with a steal if we were to trade our no. 3 pick.

Make WC a reasonable offer, ie pick 3 and Kennedy, and if they don't like it fine. Their is other players, not better, but that could still do a sufficient role for what we need to see a improvement for the Blues.

Very sensible post.:thumbsu:

I'm not gonna make big claims, but those 6 mentioned were just the high draft picks. IMO Simpson is probably better than all of those, and Fisher is as good as Waite. Carrazzo established himself too.

There's plenty of good young players. They just need to become good seasoned players now.

I think theres no hope of him getting to Carlton. Carlton may satisfy WCE, but I don't think Chris would want to play at a club that is 4 years off being a contender and a club that also has a questionable culture.

Essendon or Melbourne.:thumbsu:

BAH!

Carlton have a bigger future than those two. Essendon have a number of old players, Melbourne don't have any decent youth.

So you're telling me carlton won't be good for atleast another 4 years yet teams like Essendon and Melbourne will be in the nearer future?
Compare Essendons and Melbournes young kids to carltons.

dude if WCE try to screw any club over, as long as judd doesn't mind going to carlton he should just tell WCE to **** off

Which he wont.

Too much class for that sort of thing.

Kids are the reason Judd may look to shorter term success. Essendon and Melbourne have more quality senior players which means they are much morer likely of sooner tasting success.

Throw Judd in the middle of Michael, Fletcher, Lucas and Lloyd, along with the emerging Gumbleton, throw in another quality onballer to go with Judd, Stanton, Monfries and it is easy to see why he would be better off at Essendon.

Carlton have no key defenders at all and only Fevola at full forward. Whitnall is gone and Waite is unsettled. Trade Kennedy and the problem gets no better.

Carlton and Richmond are 4 years off, Judd or no Judd.

4 years away? the kangaroos were supposedly wooden spooners this year. i hate people who say 'team A is 3 years away' because thats just bulldust. collingwood wasnt meant to make the 8 and now they're in a prelim. anything can happen as we've seen this year.

Interesting thought

OK, just think about this for a minute before you reply.
What if, just what if Judd tells the Eagles that he would only go to Carlton if the Blues kept picks #1 and #3 and Fevola?

He can also set equally stringent terms for any other teams he may choose to guarantee that his new team of choice is not stripped of valuable players with which he hopes will help his new team win the premiership.

that would never happen, think about this

how would you expect him to explain this delightful clause to his many good friends at the eagles? do you think a guy like judd would stab his friends in the back in this way?

and no, he is not doing that by going home. in his press conference, he said that every one of his mates at the eagles is disappointed but understands why he is leaving. i daresay they wouldnt understand how he would do something as childish as that. it only really exists as a possibility in the minds of carlton bigfooty fans who have their pants full at the moment and want to get him for nothing.

If it beats all the offers from the other clubs then what would his impression be of them?

Carlton has to simply outbid their rivals and then it is up to West Coast to accept. If Carlton or any other team come up with the best package it is then up to the Eagles to decide whether to accept or to let Judd walk into the PSD. Eagles ultimately have no say in what other clubs offer them.

So why do we even bother?

Judds yours and you get to keep everything.

Sounds awesome doesnt it?

Well if no one offers you guys something you deem fit you can hold strong and let him walk into the PSD, like Port did with Stevens. Unfortunately for the Eagles he isn't contracted and therefore they are on the back foot.

Do you really think Judd will do that?

Time will reveal all....

Judd to Carlton in exchange for Pick 3 and Fevola.

Lets see how good Judd is when he hasn't got a ruckman to hit the ball to him, no quality midfielders to help him and no forwards to kick it to.
