I'd like to see this as percentage of games lost vs won.
Chris Scott (2011 to 2019) Home and Away 9 seasons:

Games = 198, Wins x 142, Draws x 2, Losses x 54.

2019 season as comparison right back to 1990:
Points Conceded: 1,462, clearly the best recorded next best 1,554 on two occasions.
Points Scored: 1,984, bettered on 23 occasions since 1990.

Chris Scott (2011 to 2019) Finals record
7 x Wins, 11 x Losses, missed finals once in 2015
Top Four Finishes x 6 in 9 Years as coach for one premiership

GMHBA record since the year 2000:
Games = 155, Wins x 124, Draws x 2, Losses x 29.
During the 15 Years of Finals = 11 Losses.

Geelong POG (Period Of Greatness) 2007 to 2011"
Wins = 2007 x 18, 2008 x 21, 2009 x 18, 2010 x 17, 2011 x 19.

Luckily I don't have a Geelong obsession, any other team who won a flag in that period you got lucky.

Bullshit!!

Geelong were 3rd favourites at $8 to win the flag in 2011 which is far from being written off by your so called experts.

This is how Fox Sports analyzed our 2011 season:

Geelong
Gary is gone, the coach has bolted, but there're still plenty of reasons for Geelong to head into 2011 with hope in their hearts. Matthew Scarlett and Harry Taylor are rocks at the back and the midfield still has Jimmy Bartel and Joel Selwood leading the way. Not the invincibles they have been but still in the mix.
Premiership odds: $8
Value rating: 7/10 - if the old blokes are fresh they're a lock for the top four.
Brownlow best: Joel Selwood will get more air time no there's no Gary Ablett. At $11, he's a good chance to at least place. Jimmy Bartel is a juicy $67.

Given that Bomber failed abysmally against Pies in 2010,you still don't agree that Chris Scott did a mighty job getting his team up against the Pies 3 x in 2011,including the GF?
Do you know that the only 3 games the Pies lost in 2011 were against the CS coached Cats?
And they also beat the Hawks 3x in season 2011.
No matter how unlikeable he is in your eyes, and those of other sheep, he coached brilliantly that year and had at his disposal an excellent team, MINUS the competition's beat player in GAJ. That excellence has gradually and expectedly dwindled over the past 9 years.
The fact that he can still get this ageing list with an excellent top 6, and a very AVERAGE bottom 10, into top 4 contention every year is really frustrating for most supporters, Geelong and non Geelong.
Geelong, because many can't accept that we are not as good any more.
The rest, because we should be finished with, languishing down the bottom for a while rebuilding.
Sorry Jumpy et al, hate him or appreciate him, he is the man for the job with the team he has, which is nowhere near the 2007-2011 team in ability, class and finals results for very obvious reasons as highlighted.

Why would it take 9 years to recover from 1 player leaving? Thats terrible management.

We won the next 2 after Buddy left.

Scott absolutely did a mighty job in 2011. Premierships are too hard to win by accident.

One question however. Thompson failed abysmally against Collingwood in 2010 - presumably you mean the Prelim final?

non-sensical question..
we won the year after GAJ left.
the following years saw the departures of all our premiership heroes apart from Selwood, Taylor and Hawkins (Duncan)

Vdubs, one of my favourite posters.

I was actually talking to Paul Chapman and Courtney Dempsey (not that he’s connected but just happened to be there) a little while back about that 2010 Prelim fail, Chapman actually thought we did well to even make the Prelim considering the sh!t that was going down within the club.

We had the worst kept secret with Ablett leaving, Bomber in talks with Essendon and then being pig headed with Ablett, all those factors were a hindrance to our chances and something that clubs can do without when chasing flags. So come 2011 there’s no Bomber and no Ablett but the harmony is back and whoever was going to coach that side were always going to have a great chance of winning the flag. Even Scott himself praised Bomber on how well disciplined the side he inherited was and along with Bomber, Scott said how the side could coach itself. Plus having most of Bombers assistants and Balme to help was the perfect platform to launch anyone’s coaching career, he’s just fortunate he landed at Geelong because if he had of landed anywhere else he’d still be flagless.

Back in 2012 I said to a friend that Scott would never win another AFL flag and I still stand by that because he’s not getting gifted what he got at Geelong and he’s just not good enough when it counts and the following stat proves that, 38.9% winning record in finals how sh!t is that compared to all other current coaches.

That's a persuasive set of stats for sure.
What were Lethal's results like after the 3 peat?
And Clarko's after the 3 peat?
You are not totally taking into account that we were not meant to be in finals year after year, and that most of us predicted a slow decline which is no startling prediction.
Also, CS has readily admitted he was gifted a great team. And that comparing coaches is folly given the different teams they inherit, and the timing of their take-overs.
That said, Bomber also managed the 08 GF loss, and that team was arguably better than the 2011 team.
My main point is that GF's are hard enough to get into when you have the best team, even more difficult to win, and I have no preseason expectation or hope that we are going to be thee most seasons now, not due to our coach, but our list.

You do realize that since the inception of the final 8 we've only missed the finals 7 times and we had a 5 year out between 1998-2003 because we went the full rebuild otherwise we most likely would only have missed finals twice in 26 years. We have the best home ground advantage of any side, we usually play the lower sides because of the ground capacity so we virtually get handed a finals birth every year only a fool would write us off from making finals and another reason Scott has a healthy H&A winning record.

2020 will be no different 9 home games means we only need to win 3 or 4 away and we're in again but that's where it ends as usual.

Is he coach of the decade?
More like fraud of the decade.

How can you be coach of the decade when ranked 11th of current coaches with a finals winning percentage of only 38.9%.

Geez you guys a blinded by that H&A winning percentage which is inflated by our home ground advantage and the team he inherited, I see the handbagger tag is slowly creeping back, by the time the flog leaves it will be fully back with a capital H.

Highest win percentage by a mile and 8 finals appearances of his 9 seasons as Coach. No one else comes close

except he is behind Clarkson and Hardwick. Flags is all that counts. You may even put him behind Longmire and Simpson on weight of GF appearances. So I wouldn’t say no one comes close

Bloody hell. You’re blaming Scott for everything. If BF had been around when Billy Goggin, Rod Olsen, Malcolm Blight and others were coach I wonder what you would have been saying??

Dimma is well behind Scott and Adam Simpson. If Dusty went to GWS he'd still be the worst coach in the league. Your fanbase were calling for him to be sacked for years. He was almost sacked in 2015, the other coaches have never come close to performing near that bad.

are you drunk?? Dimma won 2 flags. A minor premiership and made the finals another 3 times. he is no way well behind those 2. There is only one coach he is behind and that is Clarkson and that is FACT.

Your super coach couldn’t beat Hardwick with a 20 point lead and basically playing 2 short in the Prelim

Dimma doesn't even have a positive win percentage. Scott has 1 minor premiership and 1 flag hardly any difference but gigantic difference throughout the season.

Scott also has only missed finals once Dimmas missed finals more times than you'd care to remember. Good stint last couple years but it's little to do with the coach and more to do with Martin and a generous fixture.

Dimma built a team from scratch to become Premiers TWICE.

Scott inherited a dynasty

2 flags to 1... check and mate

Lol fu** is this what it's going to be like when St Kilda and Melbourne win 2 premierships

Explain how winning one extra flag against GWS is more compelling than a head to head record. Scott 8 wins Dimma 4

haha ask me again in 20 years when the premierships are etched in History and home and away wins don’t mean shit.
You can NOT win this argument. There is nothing you can possibly put forward that shows Scott is way in front of Hardwick. Absolutely NOTHING. The only metrics that count Scott is behind
