Have been saying for months now the kid reminds me of Rioli - the ability to find the ball in space, the side steps, the spins, the vision, pace, everything.

In 2008 the first time I thought we actually might lose, and one of the turning points in the game was when Rioli beat Rooke (and I think Corey) out on the wing. It was just such a pivotal contest.

I want surprised to see a couple of players mention Bundys play today as right up there with the best in the GF. As Hunt kicked the ball out to HF-wing it was 2 on 1 with Bundy out of position and in my mind the ball was already coming straight back in. But Bundy went up, came down, turned and delivered into the corridor in a move of skill, grace, determination and a cool head beyond his years. We score and that was the first time in the game, I really believed, beyond doubt that we were going to win.

The kid can become anything he wants. It is going to be awesome watching him over the years to come. Bundy and the new Hawkins - OHHHWEEEE!

Re: Bundys "Rioli" Monent

Bundy is Bundy, he will become our special one someday. If he turns to become Rioli it will be a disaster.

come one, Bundy is good, but not as good as Rioli..yet

IMO he is

I have always felt that Rioli whilst clearly exciting, is far too inconsistent and has poor disposal skills. He is more of a Varcoe match and tbh I think while Rioli shades tv in toughness tv has him covered for skill, effectiveness and output, just.
Bundy however is consistent, hard, skilled, exciting and comfortably hits the 20+ disposal mark. And they aren't cheap disposals either.
For mine, rating Bundy ahead of Rioli is not a knock on Rioli, it's just an accurate assessment of output and talent.

Re: Bundys "Rioli" Monent

Bundy actually finds the hardball and is more than willing to put his body on the line, can't say the same out Thyril.

Bundy will be a better player than Rioli, we all know it.

Re: Bundys "Rioli" Monent

Had to agree with a previous post for those who remember, 'DIESEL WILLIAMS', was very similar to look at, and more like what I believe Bundy will become.

Re: Bundys "Rioli" Monent

The boy from Lara is raring to go round again!

I can't wait to come back and put in over the summer just because I'd do anything to get this feeling again. That final siren yesterday was the best feeling I've had in my life

Much better.

More possessions per game, plays hard, in and under football coupled with great awareness on the outside and can play in a variety of positions.

Rioli is a one trick pony as far as I'm concerned. Yep he has speed and good goal sense, but he only ever seems to impose himself on games where it really doesn't count for much.

Re: Bundys "Rioli" Monent

Don't know if people even read the opening post. Kind of said that it has turned into a slanging match slagging off Rioli and talking up our boy when really it was more about the fact that both had a very similar match turning moment at the big dance.

Someone end the thread now.

Good to see BF is still a ****ing circus!

Re: Bundys "Rioli" Monent

I thought that Bundy's mark, effective disposal of the ball that resulted in a Cats goal was one of those pivotal moments in the game. I would compare it to the Ottens chase down in 2007.

The above might sound like cliched B.S. but I think that those sorts of things really lift the team.

Mate, I get the reference but some of us are just extrapolating on the Rioli comparison and coming down on the side that says Bundy is already past him and will be so far in front by the mid of next year it will be hilarious.
Your thread is a great chance to put a dent in the on-going Rioli/Hawks/Media circle-jerk.

I wholeheartedly agree that Bundy's mark was a comparable historic GF moment a la Rioli in 2008. In fact it was superior as is his current ability and potential.
