as witnesses now begin to speak openly in the aftermath of the court's outcome, i'm curious as to whether any more will be heard from con bayens on his encounter with the driver who'd lined his vehicle's boot with plastic.

My opinion.

He was breaking into houses and attacking women still in his teens, he took pre-prepared knotted stockings with him and yanked the phone out the wall in one house to frustrate any efforts to call for help showing planning and premeditation.

He was always going to kill someone some time imo.

And the cops thought that he had killed someone, he was linked as the unidentified prowler and main suspect, in the murder of Victoria Clark in a neighbouring suburb. It was all over the local press that the man they sought for questioning over her murder, had dropped a kimono on fleeing the scene of another crime in Huntingdale.

It is so frustrating that they say that, deliberately vague. More than four is the crucial question.

Looking at that judgment it really makes it crystal clear that the jury system is a complete disgrace. This is the kind of consideration and structured reasoning that victims of crime and even defendents deserve. A committee of 12 randoms acting on their own poor recollections, influenced by their own biases and unable to construct, reason and follow a line of logical reasoning.... wow, no substitute for expert understanding, deliberation and justified decision making.

The defenders of the jury system need to hang their heads in shame.

Unbelievable, don’t they realise you just can’t ask for an appeal you need a reason. As that Lawyer on the news said it would very unlikely that Justice Hall has left anything open to warrant one, he is too thorough.
Then the question who is going to pay for it, I’d say legal aid has exhausted any more money for this and can’t see the Edwards having any for expensive Lawyers. Lost all sympathy for them now not letting this go now.

While his family are still in denial or simply don't care whether he did it or not and it's become about beating justice, there isn't much chance BRE will give Sarah up unfortunately. Maybe they need to be told that what they're doing isn't in anybody's best interests at this stage.

You and me both. I’m starting to see very clearly where he gets his breathtaking entitlement from and why he has no concept of responsibility. Talk about enabling.

There are legal intellectuals who take on matters like this for the technical legal side, and because they believe in the rule of law and procedure. There could be a number of them quite willing to do this.

Edwards is of course entitled to appeal, but - FFS - they don’t have to HELP him. This is enabling at its finest.

Are they so deluded that they think he’s innocent, or do they believe he just shouldn’t be held accountable for his actions? Mindboggling.

Someone needs to have a long conversation with them.

How's his response when he was questioned by police about the Huntingdale attack? While denying he was responsible for such a low act, played the victim himself by accusing her little brother of nearly drowning him in their pool. Waaaaaah poor Bradley was scarred for life he's now terrified of water. Pathetic.

The lawyer should have mentioned that grounds for appeal could also be to do with errors made by the lawyers not just the judge.

A heartfelt press conference today from Denis Glennon stating at last his family can put all this behind them and some how move on in life because justice had been served and the also the family wouldn’t be submitting a victim impact statement.
Meanwhile while this is happening, BRE’s family are ringing Barristers to see about lodging an appeal.

Currently it looks like he'll be in jail until he dies. The odds are very slim that an appeal would change that but the odds are very slim buying a lotto ticket is a good investment too and hundreds of thousands of people buy them every day.

There's four options for Sarah Spiers:

• In the ocean
• In the river
• Buried
• Dumped

Only the last two options would allow him to give a location. Only the very last would give a real chance of finding her.

My working theory is dumped because that's what happened on the last two cases. And if it's the actual option then that's the easiest to check. There are very few places in Perth where he could have dumped her and not have her discovered by now - and these potential locations are pretty easy to identify and check.
