Coach Clarkson has left the building

Clarkson gave his all for this club. He promised he would stay here three times, commenting on how he loved the club and had responsibility to the players. He won us four Premierships. We’ve forced him out.

The way this has been handled and the lack of respect we’ve shown towards one of our most dedicated HFC coaches & leaders is incredibly poor. Even if the timing was right this has been a shitshow of epic proportions.

Won't lie. I'm pretty sad about this sudden end. Clarko has been the coach for almost my entire life. Absolute legend of the club. Can't thank him enough for all the joy he bought me and so many others over the past 17 years.

Yeah the change itself doesn't shatter. The day had to come eventually.

The way it's been handled is sad though and I hope Clarko and the club have a great relationship going forward, for all they have done together, even though right now you'd imagine it's quite fractured.

I'm not sure why people are spewing shit about not respecting Clarkson, we made call and tried to make it work, to honour his commit and his contract but the players are the ones which felt it was best he moved on.

I am Hawks through and through and will remain so always. But its only fair that we are all disappointed with the club and how messy and emotive this has all become.

If its true that the players had to inform the club it is untenable that is even more disappointing. To me that is always a sign of club in significant disarray, and whether I like it or not, that is Hawthorn today.

Mitch and Clarko have shown great respect for each other over the last few weeks. It's all still raw but the club needs a clean break and for Mitch to get to work re-shaping the list, his game plan and player-specific roles.

Clearly could have been handled better but I hope Clarko gets a warm reception on his way out.

Let him take Kennet's role.

Clarkson said he and Mitchell could work together. That the promise he made to Mitchell was the same as the promise made to his own wife. He told the players on two occasions that he would be here next year and could make it work.

But the players said these guys are fooling themselves and no one else. Really disappointing.

So, The Age is reporting that Clarkson will be receiving a full pay out and may depart prior to the end of the season. We've gone from everything is hunky dory to forking out the big bucks to show Clarkson the door. Kennett needs to explain WTF is going on. This isn't on the players.
