The little man needs to be moved on immediately. I don't believe he is the right man to move the club forward. I applaud him for his efforts in engineering the hawthorn football clubs premiership in 2008, but his tenure needs to end.

The best assets of our team are buddy and roughy. Both capable, im my opion, of being 100 goal forwards. Yet Clarkson persists with a game plan that pissfarts around with little handballs to stationary players, or slow ball movement all of which seem to be designed to allow the opposition to flood back and triple team buddy.

Also barker is a cancer on the foward line and should of been sacked last season.

A champion coach like mathews wouldn't allow such piss weak efforts from the hangers on in the side. There are too many players (like the coaches) content with their 2008 performance and see injuries as another excuse to justify their pathetic performances. I believe leigh would be the perfect candidate to get the club back on top.

mmmmmmmmm, irrational, and silly.

I like the idea. For people to think that Clarkson is more suited than Matthews, then they are in denial. He is a one trick pony. Would love to be proved wrong but I doubt I will be.

The game's passed Lethal by, unfortunately. If you want proof, pick up a copy of the Rd 19 2008 game in Tassie, where he allowed Hodge to play as a loose man in front of Brown for the entire match without even a hint of an opponent. He might have been the answer in 1999 (when I believe we should have made a play for him prior to him joining Brisbane), but he's not anymore.

As for Clarkson, while the side is struggling badly at the moment, he deserves a chance to coach a side that isn't missing five or more of its best 22. He hasn't had such an opportunity since the 08 GF, which is shocking bad luck.

Anyway, the premiership has bought him plenty of time to build up to another period of success (see Williams at Port). He'll be here until the end of 2011 at least.

yeh i didnt lyk him since half way through last year.

you watch him wen were loosing he just sits there never angry, no emontion.

if that was my coach (phil Cleary) he would be ripping his hair out. clarkson is to much of a stubborn person to relise, a club with 50k+ members expect more from a list like ours.

get him out.

hard to be competitive without a ruckman, whichever team you are. Under circumstances what did you expect? Very hard to win premiership without a quality ruckman or two.

Will he be the right man if we had 2 fit ruckmen ,our captain,a few more games into Sewell,Gibson,Burgoyne, Dowler and a fit Rioli?
I would imagine we might be sitting un beaten at the top of the ladder.

I haven't "bring back Lethal" since the dying days of Schwab's tenure...

Buddyhawk is spot on; Lethal left Brisbane because he could see the writing on the wall.

I know what you are saying HD, but that is just the issue - he doesn't have these guys & yet is keeping the same plan anyway. What you have effectively said is that Clarkson can coach well when everything is going well - but what about when it isn't?

Noone with a brain would criticise Clarko in the 2008 campaign (although the games we lost could have been different had he made changes when they were required) as we won the flag.

Cleary Clarko's issues as coach come when things are not going according to plan - and that is the main criticism - there appears to only be one plan. Most people are not willing to accept injuries as the reason for a repeat of 2009.

well hay winning the flag in 08 to loosing it in 09 ;) and even a 112 point win and he still not happy ;)
ouch he does great speeches though i know his family went to a white ribbon thing at fed square last year could listen to him talk all day , o keef [deal or no deal ] is a good speaker too
well i hope you win the game for him next time you play :thumbsu:

I can't believe such a flog is a reasilitic person - seriously, are there people as stiupid as this just running around???

I dont think any coach can implement a gameplan in a 3 week period and make it work, that is both a winning forumla and effective without having a chance at having first use of the ball.

Most of the hawthorn players cant beat 1 on 1 situations. They have neither the strength nor the height. The handballing is a by product of having many in and under players plugging holes, where others (who are out injured) should be dominating. The solution is quite simple...

"a good defense can sometimes be a good offense". In saying that campbell brown must be played down back with birchall, gilham with one youngster as a Key Def to teeth them in and harden them up.

Too many youngsters playing critical roles making bad decisions down back at critical times. Cyril and young on the wings, rough and Bud alternating at FF and CHF, hodge loose man at CHB, chb lewis, guerra and murphy is back pocket players, Bateman at half forward flank, midfield speaks for itself, and work from there. Give them their true positions. Brown must be played back...unless they are protecting him with intension of trading him next season.

This formula is why Geelong are that good, they have true position players. And their defense wins them games. Not alterating everyone everywhere looking for team chemistry as a fluke. I think Hawthorn should stem away from strategy and focus on putting the right man in the right position 100% of the time (when available) then work at beating your man 100% of the time.

sack the coach threads after a loss are so Richmond

I'm of the opinion that tonight's loss was the one we had to have to finally shake the aura of 2008 and to put individuals in this side on notice.

We are not feared nor respected. Teams play us and expect to win. We now need to become the hunter again.

This is totally a mindset shift. I can't wait for the battle to begin. Next week we turn our season around and begin the journey back to where we rightfully belong.

"Stats are meaningless. The only stat we focus on is the scoreboard one to be fair and we were two goals down at the end of the game"

Thats ridiculous no wonder we always lose...
