I'm sensing a universal feeling here that goes beyond mere respect for the man for his commentary work.

I know its customary to talk people up after their death, but I always felt that Clinton radiated a charisma and vibe that just made him instantly likable.

It appears that you all picked up a similar feeling.

The question for now is not of how he died (we'll leave that to the coroner and police to work that out), but who'll replace Clinton at both 3AW and Fox Sports? To think that Clinton died at the young age of 32-which is my age, incidentally- is shocking and hard to comprehend. Clinton Grybas will be remembered as one of the best sports commentators this country has produced. Grybas called cricket, AFL, the Olympics and boxing and was generally regarded by many as one of the very best commentators of the modern era-either on radio or TV. Incidentally two of the commentators Clinton Grybas and Wally Foreman from the ABC that was interviewed for the book Beyond the Call have now passed away.

RIP Clinton Grybas.

had an awesome voice for the job- could stir emotion in the most boring match...RIP Clinton, you will be missed

No doubt. He just seemed like a very likeable man from his commentary, only ever spoken to him once at the MCG before a game. He sat and spoke for 20 minutes when he could have been like Wayne Carey and walked away from people wanting a chat. Great bloke, awesome commentator. Sadly missed, always remembered.

I think Matty Campbell will make a return to Fox Sports (got axed when Fox Footy did) and Healy will be the "head" of Fox Sports AFL (was always an assistant to Clinton).

Very true. A team could be down by 80 points with 5 minutes left in the match, and kick a goal, and Clinton would still call it as if it was a matchwinner.

Yep.

I can add that even though i never met him i felt as though i knew him. The way he presented himself was the best ive ever seen and probably will ever see. It wont be the same without him.

Football has lost one of its brightest stars.

RIP Clint

About the only thing credible in footy these days was Clinton.
Really enjoyed the way he called the game, his knowledge of the game and the decent person he appeared to be.

RIP Clinton and sympathy to his friends and family :(

Agree - the word respect seems to be correct but he was very likeable - is there anything about him to hate? I honestly can't think of anyone who would say anything bad about him

Absolute tragedy....There have been too many media people we have all loved and enjoyed over the last few years pass away in shocking circumstances....Hookes, Mainwaring, Grjuljsich and now Grybas. Through being in the media it's like we all get to know them, and it hits so much harder than if they were sort of 'unattached' to us.

Wally Foreman too. :(

Another thing that was so great about Clinton is whatever he did it wasn't about him it was about the sport he was just guy lucky enough to be hosting it. Most media personalities every thing they did was about raising there own profile, trying to become more and more famous. Clinton struck me as someone who would have been just as happy and professional if he was calling country footy as he was calling AFL. He cared about the game and the fans more then he cared about people knowing his own name. That's my impression anyway that's why he was loved and respected.

dear god... i can't believe this... very very sad news:(

the best in the business... absolute gem. being an aspiring commentator myself i'd aspired to work along side someone of his nature and character.

R.I.P

He was just a class commentator. Cannot believe he has passed away such a shame. I'm really going to miss the bloke. Condolences to his family in this sad time, seemed a really top guy. One of the very few great commentators left.

I felt from how Bondy was talking that it may have been suicide, which sounds incongrous to how I would imagine how Clinton's life was going, great career, fiance, etc. Guess we'll all find out sooner or later, til then that's it for me.

RIP Clinton, you will be missed.
We watched Sky News and they quoted Bondy as saying "he had a good job, good fiancee' so "why"?......Accident never mentioned.....Very very sad :(

This doesn't imply suicide necessarily.

Maybe just more of "he had a great career, great fiancee... why does this have to happen to him?"
