Yeah I knew he would have been a nice bloke. Man, this is such terrible news. Thanks for that Rusty. Who did he go for?

He was a Collingwood man.

Clinton Avatar here for people who want to pay tribute in that way.

Thanks BD, much appreciated. :thumbsu:

I'm sure it will be seen a lot on here.

I just feel like I am taking this harder than I should considering I never met the man.

Is it because we are losing the best caller in our game?

Is it because he is only 32?

Is it because seeing this happen to someone who seemingly had it all is just a completely sobering thought?

I'm really rattled by this.

really sad news. i can't help but admire someone who was good at what they did and reached his level at a young age. i always find it sadder when someone young dies

I Loved his interaction with Tony Shaw, Rodney Eade and Derek Humphrey-Smith each Wednesday (I think) on WLF. It was hilarious television.
Most commentors have worn their "serious" hats when condemning the umpiring department, but this particular segment was must-see televsion for footy fans, as it reminded us that it is only a game.
There was also a time with the Thursday panel - Matthew Lloyd, David Parkin and Liam Pickering - where they all just cracked up and Clinton could hardly close the show he was laughing so much!
As others have mentioned, I previously wanted WLF to come back but now I don't. It just wouldn't be the same.

Very sad to hear this news. I thought he was a bloke who had time not only for the big names in footy, but listened to average supporters as well.
Big loss to footy.

real terrible was a fantastic commentator probably one of the best, always judged commentators by thinking if i hear them commenate and hear no bais at all then he is doing his job well, and by seeing that some wanted to know ho clinton barracked for (collingwood) the he really did a fine job.

Rip mate, hope collingwood can give you what you dreamed of:thumbsu:

Its amazing to think, that on a site full of such critical people (especially in terms of commentary) that I cannot ever recall anyone on BigFooty saying anything negative about him.

Its extremely rare to see someone with such universal appeal.

Fraz, was that the one where they were taking the piss out of Lloyd's muscles of something? I also saw that one and it WAS hilarious.

Absolute shock at this, he was my absolute favorite commentator....

Just gutted, which is strange as he wasn't some one i knew, but he came across as being so genuine, likable, unbiased and not affected by his popularity.

Rip

It is funny how a death of someone you have never met can affect you so deeply. Like many, I never met him but I feel like I have lost a friend

The fact that a lot of people didn't know whom he barracked for and that I was shocked when I found out says a lot about him as a commentator. Not a hint of bias, totally professional. Gun.

I felt from how Bondy was talking that it may have been suicide, which sounds incongrous to how I would imagine how Clinton's life was going, great career, fiance, etc. Guess we'll all find out sooner or later, til then that's it for me.

RIP Clinton, you will be missed.

He may know only as much as we do and may be jumping to conclusions like ourselves, you never know.

Very very sad.

He and Denis are by far the best TV commentators, and he was so young, just so sad.

The thing I liked about him the most was when there was a crap game of football he would say it. No bullshitting.

You will be missed. RIP.

Fraz, was that the one where they were taking the piss out of Lloyd's muscles of something? I also saw that one and it WAS hilarious.
Yeah, that's the one, when they were saying that Lloyd was flexing! I also remember in another episode when there were SMS's about Lloyd's muscles and Clinton was like "tell Lisa to stop texting in under pseudonyms" :p As I mentioned before, he always just seemed so happy and like he was having an absolute ball with his job.
*sigh* It really hasn't sunken in yet. When my mum first told me I honestly thought (and hoped) that she must've got the name wrong. It just seems really surreal.
