If Enright goes to the Pies, might mean that Brisbane assistant comes to us instead?

Sam McClure linked Enright to Collingwood and us last night, with Collingwood the front runners for him.

I suspect this is Harves but I wonder whether Leigh Montagna has any aspirations to be a coach. His footy smarts are clearly evident as a commentator.

Nah, I've heard Harves too....from a Richmond mate. He's pretty good on the footy rumours though. I'd probably prefer others just for a bit of youth and ambition rather than a nostalgic feel good story.
Harvey has probably had experience to be pretty good at it.
People like Montagna , he's been out of it too long.
Thing is its really hard from the outside to know which coaches are doing well and showing aptitude.
My Boss is a Hawks supporter. He said that when they appointed Clarkson he was like "who the hell is this little midget "?
( Did anyone notice him when he was an assistant at the Saints ).
He didn't spend that long in the system though.
1 year at StKilda, a year coaching a VFL side, a year coaching a SAFL side, a year at Port , then the Hawks.
Yeah probably agree but even if he wasn't a Saint then I think his experience would make him a good candidate for the role. Might never be a senior coach but could work out to be a good fit with Ratts as an assistant.

I had a conversation a couple of years ago with a guy who was on the Hawks board when Clarko was appointed. He said no-one could particularly take credit for the success, Clarko was just the consensus choice at the time. No-one on the board was super excited about him but the front-runner was Gary Ayres and a couple of the board members were dead against him. And I think the other candidates were Donald McDonald, Andy Collins, maybe Brian Royal or someone like that, no-one exciting. And they were sorta hoping they'd get Matthews when he left Brisbane a couple of years later.
I never quite understood what was on the nose about Gary Ayres. He seems to polarise people in footyland.

I know we've been linked to Dale Tapping but can someone tell me anything about him? Never heard of him. The Collingwood fans seem to think he's some God.
He's been the midfield coach at Brisbane for a few years now.
Very experienced and apparently very good with developing young mids.
He's coached his own side including Sandy Dragons and Collingwood VFL. He was VFL coach of the year at one stage.
I think he'd be a great fit for us.

I would love Harvs as an assistant coach. He has had IP from Carlton...meh and Collingwood where there was enough money to throw at anything cutting edge to assist performance.
Whilst I like Sammy surely like for like coaching Harvs is a massive upgrade and our mids need all the help they can get and if that's Harvs then bring it on.
He is a favourite son and hope he has gotten over the non appointment a few years ago.
Wonder where we would becif we had stuck with him rather than Waters iirc.
