Our percentage will be sub 80 this year .
90 last year
Dew has repeatedly told us to look at that as an indicator of progress
Essendon finished just above us last year by points
I think we can safely say they're a bit ahead of us now
Missing

Witts
Day (important for structure for King)
Weller
Markov
Ellis
Greenwood
Holman
Budderick

Poor performance but that's a lot of first 22 out and mature bodies out.
I agree regarding Dew.

Witts makes a huge difference to our team but he won't be playing his best football until 2023 after a knee and a year out
So then we rely on Day as backup who is a handbag of chronic injuries-should end well
Weller sadly is not the droid we're looking for-good link player in a decent team
If we can't cover players like Markov Holman and Budderick then we are still nowhere near success
Ellis and Greenwood are probably best 22 and difficult losses to cover but now have bad STI's so who knows whether they'll return to full fitness

Quality Ruckman 2 best tacklers and 3 quickest players makes an enormous difference to structure as does Day for King.
I'm not looking for excuses but l wasn't surprised by the result.

Clarko has alluded to having a year off next year. Neither the Blues nor Pies seem to have particularly good lists, with both also having boardroom instability, so not enticing. The AFL might help you get him for 2023.

I've been following Touk who has been having an amazing year. He does so much heavy lifting and gut running but seems to be under utilized by your defenders in general. If he heads in a particular direction they generally switch to the other side so he has to hare off to the next contest. Do any of you guys notice that? It must be hard to maintain your enthusiasm when, as the best player in the team, you are ignored for lesser team mates who often cause turnovers.

Every time we sack a coach it's a long long road to til we start building something. I'm not convinced things will change if we do that again. Clarkson still feels like a pipe dream and are there really that good of options out there? I feel we are building but very slowly. I'm sticking with Dew. For now.

Touk not a big fan of Dew by the looks of it.
Wanted to show him what he really thought.

If Teague has a superior winning percentage than Dew and gets sacked then the math says we go after him.

This is not going to happen and I say it tongue in cheek but I think it highlights just how poorly Dew has coached.

This was the year we were supposed to see significant growth and it’s simply not there. Some may say I’m being too hard on Dew but I’m afraid that if we don’t strike now then in another 12 months we will see another mass exodus

The risk I see with going again with dew for next year is the players who are going to be off contract.. you go with dew and have the same result next year as this year then dew is sacked out of contract players ask to be traded then back at ground zero again.. if the club flicks dew this year then gives next year for players to see if any improvements with a new coach

Totally agree and I've been saying it for most of the year. Players like Ben King (who reputedly had to be almost coerced into playing for us) will never consider signing on if the team performance remains as is. I also worry about Noah Anderson (Hawthorn links), Rankine and Lukosius and others if the team does not become much more competitive and not just narrowly lose BUT start narrowly winning. These sort of players leave and we are left with good but not brilliant players like Holman, Sexton, Ainsworth, Bowes etc who would struggle to find another club so they stay. Can anyone also tell me whether Sam Collins has re-signed yet? It would a disaster if he was to leave - although Rory might be back next year!! (I'm joking).

Collins definitely re-signed.

I could handle honourable losses against good teams, but we are just totally non competitive most times. Too many games where teams go on a 10-15 goal sequence. Garry Lyon said it’s like the boys are confused with the game plan.
Rightly or wrongly this will be Dew’s last game as coach.
If he coaches us next year I’ll get a tattoo of Dan Gorringe’s face on my butt cheek. That’s how confident I am.

I once saw a guy that had a tattoo of what l thought was a ladies private’s but now I realise it was a portrait of Dan Gorringe

i thought i heard somewhere that Clarko's payout has a clause that will significantly reduce his compensation if he coaches in 2022. something i would fully expect any business that carry's intel and trade secrets would impose. with this in mind i think dew will still be coach next year with clarkson either taking a year off or working behind the scenes at a footy club.

That's alright. Pay him a nominal fee for next year and then pay double the year after.

I think we’re a real chance. AFL are going to pay our next coach outside the soft cap anyway which puts us in the box seat ahead of every other club.
