Not sure how that works. Dew stays on one more season knowing he’s finished? That scenario won’t happen.
Well what does he do??? Walk out with one of the all time lowest winning percentages with a team of top draft picks. Can’t see it happening, he needs to show any potential clubs that has had value

If there's any move away from Dew, then Clarkson's the only option. Ross Lyon can easily turn into a Malthouse or Eade, while an untried coach is always a crapshoot. Clarkson is probably the only coach in the land that secures all of our key players and brings players with him. If it's the AFL agitating then they should make it happen.

Anyone else, and we lose key players, just as we would with a poor 2022 under Dew. But a good season under Dew next year?

I agree. If we are going to sack Dew we need to be 101% sure then Clarkson would come. Although I did read something this morning that Clarkson said he should've finished up about 5 years ago- does that mean he no longer has the passion to coach? If he doesn't come then we have egg on our faces and would cause bigger problems.

I don't mind the talk of Brad Scott as maybe a head of footy though. He has done a good job down here as head of AFL Vic. Haven't really been sold on Jon Haines.

When she says Executive Chairman, does that mean to replace TC? I think TC is doing a great job

This is a good explanation between chairman, executive chairman and CEO

Thanks for that! I'm a bit daft.

All I know was 3 weeks ago Mark Evan’s got asked can u guarantee Dew will coach in 2021 and he danced around and never guaranteed shit.

if the AFL comes to Evan’s n says it’s Dew or you and Haines needs to be out by end of the year.

im sure Evan’s will dump Dew quicker then Dew can open a bag of lollies

Haines and Evan’s must love there cushy well paid AFL gigs up on the coast
Away from prying VFL eyes most of the time!

I think that is quite harsh on Mark. I think he has done a great job. He won't get dictated to by the AFL.

One of the main reasons Evans took on Suns job was to be closer to his aging parents who live between GC and Brisbane (according to Evans early interview). Obviously, also to take on the challenge.

Evans had a pretty good job at AFL headquarters, don't you think?

Would hate to see Dew go. He was handed the keys to the worst AFL list, which got significantly worse when Lynch and May left. You can only work with what you have and right now our best 22 with everything going right, may scrape into the 8. But take out one of the top rucks in the league and have no replacement for him, AFL’s best tackler, our CHF and a bunch of others, I’m not surprised by the year we had.
i also don’t think the winning % of previous suns coaches is a fair comparison either, Mckenna had the one of the greatest players of all time in his team, put prime Ablett in our fully fit team and we’re winning more games than we lose.

Not to mention most of the players that we love who are in the team came in under Dew as part of his plan. He commenced a plan (with Cameron and Haines) in 2018. They looked around in 2018 and then decided who to trade out including Lynch and May. They then decided to go to the Draft but also get some experienced players too such as Ellis, Greenwood etc to boost the young team. Someone on the Suns FB group was saying that this season is the first trade period that we can really go after a gun considering we have now ticked the draft box etc. They need to give Dew the chance to finish off his plan not sack him half way through it. Since Dew has come in, we have recruited top players who are in our best 22 and they outweigh the players that have departed the club.

Evans himself secured a bag of concessions which landed Anderson, Budarick, Jeffrey, Davies, Collins, Burgess & Corbett for free.
Further free draft concessions were used to help secure Flanders & Sharp. Imagine our list without those concessions.

He’s loyal to Dew but the AFL ultimately bankroll us and provided these freebies. If they want Dew gone then he is.
Clarkson is extremely loyal to Dew. If he’s interested in the job in any way it will take the AFL to move on Dew to get it done.

If the AFL want to act now it will force Clarkson’s hand now. It seems that the decision is out of the club’s hand.

Re:sacking Dew - surely no serious club sacks the coach without a successor lined up?

If Clarko is keen we must go for him, but if not it's a different story.
Surely at this point clubs would have a channel to find out if the Clarko door is closed. Maybe it's slightly ajar? But i'd definitely want it to be almost certain before we cut ties with Dew. Ending up without a coach while Clarko commits to a year off – that's the sh*tshow just waiting to happen.

This is just beautiful. Caro is nearly always spot on, she reports something then all the women haters abuse her and then she turns out to be right.
See ya later Dew. Haines you pack your bags and your video camera and piss off too out of our city. Adios.
Not a fan of Caroline but she always seems to be pretty close to the smell of things - but agree if Dew is to go - it has to be for Clarkson. If Dew or an untried or has been gets the gig we will still lose the cream by the end of 22 - unless drastic turnaround on field re win / loss etc. On another note - if he was fully fit I'd definitely go for Jake Carlisle (STK) now that he's available at 29 years of age. Couldn't do any worse than Rory who's enjoyed a very good holiday with pay for the past 3 seasons and he won't cost the earth. Would be a huge support for Collins down back and free Ballard up to be a more intercept than lock down player.
