Check out the board of the Gold Coast Suns on the Official site. Of course it is not updated.
This is a powerful group of movers and shakers able to handle corporate matters.
Important question however. Has any one of them ever really played the game? Does just one of them know what makes for a good coach?
So it is surprising this group were conned into giving Dew an extension.

Ponder this:
Essendon FC’s Constitution provides for the club to have up to 10 directors, comprised of up to: SIX directors who are directly elected by the MEMBERS; and Four directors who are appointed by the approval of at least two thirds of the other directors.
How many members of the Gold Coast Suns Board are elected by members. Answer ZERO.
How much say do members have in the running of the club. Answer ZERO.

AFL owns the club and decides the club structure including chairman, board members approval. Talk to AFL headquarters :p

BTW, Essendon is probably not the greatest example. It's a constant s**t fight off-field and while I enjoy how they play this year they were mostly bad last 20 years like Carlton. Why not to choose as an example Cats (plus their off-field deals)?

This past off-season Essendon proved that their board structure is very volatile. We do not need a Kevin Sheedy on the board trying to get James Hird in as the coach.

The only reason I used Essendon was it was the first club I looked at. Could have used Richmond : All members will have received, or will shortly receive, a ballot for the board election.. The board strongly encourages all members to vote.

The point I was making is that members have no say in the club.

Have absolutely no respect for the AFL in solving the problem.

If we lose by 20 points - does Dew go?
30 points?
40?

Is there a points loss that will see him gone today?

You'd have to think that a 10 goal loss would be enough.
Even we aren't THAT bad.

Are we?

Lose today, and I can't see Dew lasting the week.

Who comes in if we sack Dew? It would need to be someone with a bit of experience
Shaw would be a candidate as he has previous experience, but would he want it.
I'm not advocating his retainment but there needs to be a replacement.
Josh Drummond is the answer to your question. Watch how well the Suns VFL play with their teamwork.

Nothing to lose by his appointment. If there is no signs of improvement then look elsewhere.

So why should we care.
Well there you have it, Dew has the WORST winning percentage of any of the 88 coaches to lead 100 games or more. The WORST EVER

He has achieved this with players like
King
Rowell
Anderson
Miller
Witts
Luko
Swallow
Ainsworth
Flanders
Ballard
Weller
Powell
Andrew

8 of the above are top 10 picks!!!!

And letting go for a bag of peanuts
Lyons
Brodie
2MP
Scrimshaw
Bowes and pick 7

Another 4 top 10 picks above

And Let’s not forget Rankine and Ablett!! Barassi could coach this team to finals from his retirement village bed

Please lord let me be wrong and the Suns have 100 point win today that finally breaks the mould and sees us turn the corner so all of the above was not for nothing and the fans can finally walk from the desert

Ablett was gone before Dew arrived wasn't he?

When you say Barassi could could this team to finals.
Are you talking about the 2023 team?

The Barrassi comment was an attempt at humour basically insinuating an old man could dial in a better result than Dew

You are correct about Ablett, he left end of 2017 Dew started tenure in 2018

I like Hinkley, but year on year, his sides are inconsistent. Each year it’s hard to tell if Port will make the finals. We, as a supporter base, may not cope with that very well.

Wondering if we’ll make the finals from year to year sure beats wondering if we’ll ever make finals as has historically happened.

Everything Hinkley has achieved with Port has been with a pretty average list
I'm struggling to think of a superstar he's had at his disposal week in week out
Depends how you look at it, what’s chicken vs egg but..

Gray - 4 time all australuan - definitely a star.
Boak 3 time AA and second in Brownlow
Wines - Brownlow winner
Wingard made it twice before age of 23?

Aliir, Dixon, Ryder, Byrne-jones also made AA Teams

Rozee becoming a star, made it last year age 21?

I heard some Journo talking about this with Hinkley and thought it was relevant to Dew as well. He has started coaching from the bench, does that mean that the coach in the box is actually running the show and a potential reason we have seen some improvement?

Dew even praised Steven King for his work in the box in the 4th quarter…

Food for thought
