No Daicos on the list? I'd have thought we would be keen to get a handful of senior-level football games under his belt this year to set him up a bit for a go at AFL R1. Maybe 6-8 games in the VFL I would have thought.

Can play when he doesn’t have NAB league or school footy commitments. Will get a few games of VFL this year.

I would have thought he's have NAB League football commitments most weekends though. I think they'd need to try to actively free him up from some games to get him experience against men.

Next weekend is the last nab league game until late May, there is a 4 week break to which the kids will play VFL or local or school footy

#1 Youseph Dib

The crafty small was vital in Oakleigh’s break away on the scoreboard in the second half, where he was thrown into the midfield and used his agility and speed to break away from the contest with ball in hand. He just has a remarkable ability to get himself out of tricky situations, with a strength of his being his handballing, able to hit difficult targets and then run to support or get the ball back. He pulled off some good kicks as well, although there were a couple of awkward ones where the ball came off flat and wobbly, which is an area he could look to sure up.

#3 Nick Daicos

Following up from his thrilling NAB League debut against Sandringham Dragons, Daicos put in another best on ground performance in a dominant display through the midfield and forward line. His footy IQ is at an obviously high level, this was highlighted with dominance around stoppages, able to win it at will, even head-to-head with top prospect Tyler Sonsie he had the advantage, able to read the ruck tap exceptionally well. His skills were also clean in some unfavourable conditions, hitting some really good kicks into dangerous spots, able to show his composure by hitting them under pressure as well.

What’s Dibs most likely position? Flanker?

Dib and Kelvie have both been good off half back so far in the first quarter. Kelvie with a nice intercept mark and getting involved in chains. Dib using handball to nice effect and showing nice pace, including one play off the back of the centre square where he charged in, picked up the ball and delivered it long inside 50

Pretty sure can’t select if goes top 20. But that’s a high mark. We won’t have much currency after daicos. I want to keep 2022 1st
If we hang on to 2022 first, we might just cop the deficit for matching a bid, if Dib goes late enough?

Am I right in saying the deficit falls in the round of the draft where we had the shortfall, so 2nd round 2022 if we match a bid in 2nd round of 2021 but don't have enough points?

I think that’s right but I’m no expert! Kinda wish DIB wasn’t a flanker, we have enough 😂

So we need Dib to fall out of the the top 20 picks, is this correct?
Yep, non-northern clubs cannot match zone bids inside the top 20 this season. That will be pushed out to top 40 in future years.

Didn’t get a chance to watch too much of the Nab league game today, but in the bits I saw damn Dib looked good.

There was one centre clearance late in the 4th quarter where he just burst out with the ball.

Particularly with his build it was very reminiscent of a player like Dion Prestia.

Thanks for the write-ups, Jen.

So if another Club bids on Daicos at say pick No.1, what does it cost us in points and will we have enough left over to get Dib too?
