Collingwood are a certainty this week

We are here, I'm pretty sure the majority of Crows fans were predicting this to be 50/50 and not a 'certainty' for the Pies. As it turned out to be.

Great game, disappointing result in the end, but only had themselves to blame after a poor 2nd and 3rd quarter (for very different reasons) before waking up in the last.

Means nothing.
I disagree. I think it was last week's performance that was the incentive in the second half. Collingwood were slipping toward a 'straights set' exit during the second quarter, until they realised they weren't going to go out like that.
I could just as easily tell you that the Crows want redemption for two previous losses to Collingwood in finals, he Crows have the form to get that redemption, and they will have it.
I think the reward for a win always means more than the past results of previous finals matches between the two teams.

I think it's amazing that the same conclusions are arrived at year in, year out.

Team B from the top 4 loses to Team A, also from the top 4;
Team C from the bottom half of the top 8 thumps team D, also from the bottom half of the top 8;

The conclusion is that Team B is struggling, whilst Team C is flying, but there is generally a huge gulf in the difference in quality of the teams played in week one of the finals. What would have St. Kilda done to the Essendon side that fronted last Friday night?

The facts are that in 9 years of the current finals system, only on two occasions has a top 4 team gone out in straight sets, and there is a very good reason for that.

I'm loving that I got $2.70 about a Pies/Dogs double on the weekend. Given we've seen both losing Qualifying Finalists win in the second week of the finals 77% of the time, that is way above the odds. Not saying it is a certainty, but it is way above the odds...
The theory holds true. Again. No certainty, but very much over the odds.

But wasn't this a team on a roll who had won three consecutive games by 70+ points in unprecedented form coming up against an injury-stricken battling side with two consecutive losses on the back of a six day break?

Very interested to understand the 'very different reasons'. Aside from the fact that you can only play as well as your opponent allows you...
