Harsh.

Ed’s job is in the media. If he wasn’t making headlines he wouldn’t be doing his job.

Given that Jeff doesn’t have a media job, you’d reasonably expect him to be more low key.

I agree with that and it's probably up to the members to realise that they shouldnt select a media personality. Of course, Ed wasn't technically elected, he was more annointed but the members had chances to escape his lightning rod personna...but didnt. And that point covers the criticism that he stayed too long etc etc. If the members are going to be so docile then they shouldnt be surprised that forceful personalities are going to run the club as they see fit...

Same
I took to him from his first game with us but more I see him off the field I just love him. He’s such a happy positive person. Seems to enjoy life. He’s the type of person you want around you.
I was so happy to see him training with us during the off season..was gutted when we didn't have a spot for him & he trained with Carlton.

So glad it's turned out how it has.

He seems like the sort of bloke who would go in and say 'whatever mate, give us another year & we'll see how we go, hey.. I'm just having too much fun to think about contracts'

well he doesnt have a competent manager then...i'd prefer to have him locked away ahead of cox or ash johnson to just name a couple. He's 27 so you would think he's got 2 years in him...

i'm perplexed that he was given only one more year when others have been offered more...
At the start of the year he was ready to give the game away. He's got a balanced life outside of footy and seems very willing to step back into a job as a disability support worker. He was asked in an interview if he would play on into next year and he had a "what will be, will be" attitude. Some people are just like that.

you think he asked for a single year? Thats a novel explanation... It makes me wonder why he took a 2 year contract to play for the gold coast...He also signed a 2 year contract with richmond in 2016 for the next 2 seasons.

I would argue that his "what will be" attitude is a response to his circumstances, not some inate philosophy. If the pies had offered him 3 years, he would be taken it...

I know bias yadda yadda, but Elliotts mark against Carlton should’ve absolutely been in there instead Himmelbergs Hawthorn mark. Himmelbergs was only good cause of its context in the game, plenty of marks better than it. Johnson should win though.

We'll see, because Josh should have won GOTY easily, but the haters gave it to Draper.

Johnson's mark is in the final 3 for Mark of the Year

AJ's is the most spectacular..maybe I'm biased. Harry would feel hard done by if he missed out having had 2 nominations 🙄

Billy's goal wasn't even included in the 3 GOTY's. I don't understand how Houston's got nominated before Billy's. Maybe I'm based again.

Why has this stuck in your craw so much? You're talking about him signing a contract seven years ago for Christ's sake. He's signed for a year, deal with it. If you want to question how he approaches life maybe you should read/watch the countless interviews he's given since joining the club. What a bizarre thing to get hung up about.

i think chris tarrant should have got mark of the year...i just cant let it go...

Player who needs a lift: Steele Sidebottom

Since coming back from injury, the usually reliable Magpies veteran just hasn’t quite looked the same nor played at the heights he did earlier this season when the team was flying. It saw his player rating drop by 41 per cent in the final four games of the home and away season. Having built his reputation as a big-time performer, Collingwood needs the 32-year old to bounce back and deliver on the September stage more than ever.
