I think Draper was well deserving of it last year lol

No way.

First ask yourself “could Josh have kicked Draper’s goal?”

Then ask yourself “could Draper have kicked Josh’s goal?”

Pretty clear which was the more impressive goal and which was made to look better by the physical limitations of the goalscorer.

I think Himmelberg’s mark against Adelaide is the best one. The the sheer height the hang time makes it hard to beat. Of course the pace at which Johnson hits the opponent is pretty spectacular as well.

Tend to agree. Himmelberg vs Hawthorn third.

Maybe they've removed the 40k pet memberships from that figure?

If we win the flag this year , the new record in 2024 will stand for some time I'd reckon

If we can break the record without winning a flag, imagine what we’d get with 3 flags in 4 years

Fantastic news for our club.......

On behalf of the Collingwood Football Club, I am so pleased to announce we have officially broken the all-time VFL/AFL Club Membership record with an historic 106, 470 supporters signed up as Members of the Magpie Army.

As the AFL program embarks on an exciting Finals Series and the AFLW launches their eighth campaign, we thank you for your support of our Club. Your Club.

This is truly a momentous achievement, and we express our deepest gratitude to each Member across the country and internationally and thank you for your dedication and unwavering support.

We are proud to be a Club that houses six teams, in AFL, AFLW, VFL, VFLW, Wheelchair and Reclink, and we thank our Members who support all teams from the elite to community level.

Our Members are like no other and it is important to acknowledge the key role our Members play off the field that drives overall Club success.

Each one of you in the Magpie Army is considered our 19th player.

You make us better, stronger and fly higher.

Your commitment to attend matches each week and to cheer and chant as we encourage the team on to victory should not be underestimated.

This year during the AFL home-and-away season, 1,385,827 supporters attended Collingwood games – a Club record, excluding Gather Round – and over 10.7 million people have watched our games on TV, which makes our Club the most-attended and most-watched team in the AFL competition.

As we embark on our 2023 Finals campaign, we urge the Magpie Army to paint the town black-and-white, to get involved, and to enjoy everything about finals footy.

A special acknowledgement to our Membership Department, and all the staff members involved, who continue to work tirelessly to deliver for our Members and supporters.

We are determined to continue to get better across all areas of our Club and on behalf of the Board, staff and athletes, we thank all Members for your commitment to our great Club.

Go the Mighty Magpies!

Anyone else get the email about us breaking the all time membership record with 106,470?

Didn’t Richmond hit 110K once?

Also, aren’t West Coast capped?

west coast has (or at least last year) a waiting list when you pay a subscription fee to the club and you get a place when it becomes available.....a bit like MCC membership.

They are called "wing members" but dont have access to tickets. The coasters still have over 100,000 members and if people are impressed by our membership numbers, the west coast have people flocking to them to buy memberships. They have more money than we can ever hope to have.

That’s what I was kind of alluding to

That West Coast has way more no? Are they capped because of stadium size or something else?

Not enough tickets for 100,000 because all of them want to get a season's ticket.....which is different to the Pies who sell a lot of memberships to people for 3 matches - although the eagles sell them too, they dont sell enough to somehow allow 100,000 people to get tickets for matches in a 60K stadium...I dont think the eagles bother with interstate memberships either....

so in short, not much dilution by the eagles. Most of their members are full paying members. The eagles dont have recruit members either.

And in the end they have $60m in the bank, even after paying the WAFL for the licence...

And notice that 40K eagles members showed up on average to all of their games this year....it is an outing for the oldies...
