Good evening all

I have noticed since last year that before and after Collingwood night/twilight games at the MCG there is a rapper who pumps out Magpie related tunes, usually near the path about 30 metres from Jolimont station. He is an African-American dude.

Does anyone know who he is and whether his work can be found on-line?

Cheers - James

There is someone who knows.... ask him

I bought his CD. The songs are rather comical, though that's probabaly unintentional.

"C-O- DOUBLE L-I-N-G-W-O-O-D We in the house....."

Lyrical genius

LOL.
It's Rap, what you expecting????
Nearly as devoid of a good lyric as R&B....ella, ella, ella.

There is good hip hop out there. Not a huge fan of the genre myself but there are some artists I can respect.

Journalists trawling Bigfooty for the next big scandal are disappointed... they misread the thread title.

He's great. Especially when he free-styles over his bass.

He is the lead singer of a local melbourne band 'The Grand Whazoo' or something like that. He does have a website but I don't have a link. He is in the middle of developing the site and said he would be uploading some of his work soon.

seriously bro?

what do you think has good lyrics, if not rap?
Songs.
Rap is a whole lot of forced rhyming garbage. Some early rap had a point other than posing.
The "x"s in your username indicate you may be of the rapper, hip hop gen so I won't argue the point.

Morrissey, David Sylvian, Elvis Costello. Now they are Wordsmiths to make you proud of the English language.
sure, if you can't tell by my profile picture i am aware of the Morrissey. but there's nothing special about these that says rap is significantly less lyrically valid.

RAP IS A WHOLE LOT OF FORCED RHYMING GARBAGE. clearly a grand scholar of all music.
not only does your ignorance settle on lyrical values, but it extends into the subcultures that surround music. my x's are related to the straightedge movement, which is a part of the hardcore genre, which is an offshoot of punk. you're clueless, best to keep quiet.

I'd say there is something special about the former examples plus the likes of say Leonard Cohen, Nick Drake, Scott Walker etc. Rap is decidedly prose in comparison, the grasp of these men captures the power of the English language without having to just make up words to fit their banal rhythms that Bernard Edwards, Larry Graham, Louis Johnson or James Jamerson would blush at. That being said there are always exceptions, Meshell Ndegeocello for one but I'd imagine she'd identify with more with my examples.

Considering the general health of the last 2 decades of Hip-Hop I'm pretty sure the likes of Henry Rollins would agree more with my sentiments.
