Collingwood set new home attendance record

If Richmonds supporter base is no where near Carlton's how come we almost always outdraw them? Go check the stats its not that hard. Last year Richmond pulled more people through the gates in a wooden spoon than any other club in history, including your little magpies in '99. If your gonna make bold statements at least have some facts to support them. You are however a Collingwood supporter and your intellect may be somewhat compromised due to bad DNA so perhaps we shouldn't expect anymore.

Watch the crowds increase by at least 25% and see the Tiges overtake the Pies in 3 years as the powerhouse :)

Possibly because they played 8 home games a year at Princes Park and now 6 home games a year at the TD?

This is the first year since Carlton moved from Princes Park in 2005 that they haven't been in wooden spoon contention for the majority of the year and their average Melb based crowd is 52,000 (compared to Richmond - 45,000)

Richmond have never drawn a Crowd of over 40,000 against any other interstate Club. Hawthorn have done that!

Not completely correct, they did draw 40462 against Sydney in 1999.

FWIW, the game MadTiger is talking about was a game against Adelaide in 1996 which drew 39,044 in 1996 (the Tigers second biggest ever against a non Victorian club)

we've been in wooden spoon contention for 26 years and we still average 46,000 . Watch it rise to 50,000 if we win 14-15 games next year(as in 1998 when we had some hope from 1995, although we missed the finals again in 1998). If we do the same in 2010 it will rise to maybe 54,000(finally convincing people this isn't a one off, we have long term success finally). Then to 57,000 if we continue the trend in 2011(more people will jump on bandwagon as with the pies over the last 2 season and the bombers in the late 90s and 2000). Even some neutral supporters will want to turn up to games :thumbsu:

And how many games did the Pies play at Victoria Park and the MCG that year? I would think Richmond had more games last year at the G than the Pies had in 99.

If West Coast/Fremantle or Adelaide got to play 18 games in their home state a year, in a stadium that holds 90000 plus, they would give the Colliewobbles a run for there money.

No offence to those clubs, but I doubt it.

By the way, we don't play 18 games a year at a stadium that holds that many.

Could somebody please put up this years avg attendances to shut up these Ninthmond nuff-nuffs.
I think they'll find their behind the Blues....next they'll be telling us their in "THE BOX SEAT" to get Kerr and Brown and Warnock and Brogan and..........

Finally some sense.

How long have Richmond been a tenant at the G?

Hawthorn have surpassed Richmond.:thumbsu:

we finished 4th not 3rd and in that one off season of success we averaged at home roughly what you and Essendon have averaged at home in the past decade and of course more than Carlton as usual. We were about 10% behind essendon in the third of their 3 in a row ladder tops and about 6% behind you

The absurdity about Carlton continues. We outdraw them more often then not (FACT) yeat apparently they have a far greater support. Nonsense.

Yes but you did not note that Essendon sold out the Dome 4 times in 2001 with attendances over 47,000. One of those games, against Hawthorn, was a high profile game at the time that would have drawn 80,000 at the MCG. The point is, Richmond were 10% (5,000 people per game) behind Essendon at home in 2001, despite the limitations on capacity of the Dome. In 2001, Essendon would have drawn an additional 60,000 to its 4 home games if these games were played at the MCG. That would mean that in reality, if the Essendon supporter base was able to flex its true muscle in 2001, Richmond would have finished about 20% behind Essendon, or 20,000 per match.

Not to mention telstra dome wasnt exactly embraced in its opening years. Have a look at our telstra dome crowds now while down the bottom compared to the Grand Final years and finals years and they're better now.

We played West Coast in 2001 while sitting 1st and drew 33k, we played West Coast in 2008 coming off 8 straight beltings sitting 14th and drew 33k.

given that richmond usually outdraw you they must have outdistanced us both then or are you hiding behind judd as they are behind second in the ladder?

Richmond = Carlton

Both >>> Hawthorn.

that is the evidence of ALL I repeat ALL history when comparing apples with apples and neighbours in the ladder. EG wen neighbouring on the ladder in the past 6 years richmond outdrew you by only about 1,200 a game on average.

Interesting little stat from the years 2002 to 2007 when richmond were 15th overall and Carlton 16th - neighbours on the ladder and all things being equal expected to draw similarly.

Both at home V the 4 WA and SA teams

Richmond. Aggregate over 15 games 358,589 average c. 23,900
Carlton. Aggregate 252,444 over 13 games average .19,600.

This is when the clubs were as comparable as it is possible to be. One the worst in footy the other the second worst. Neither ever troubling the capacity at whatever ground they played. Richmond over 4,000 a game ahead.

doubtless the pleading will begin but in comparable form and at home to the 4 clubs that have never played VFL Richmond 4,000 plus ahead. A bit of hope with Judd pushes Carlton up to 50,000 a year. What would it do for a club whose core suppport is 20% bigger?

I've always said that Carlton = Richmond but clearly they lag far behind and only their draw advantage kept them within 1,300 a game of us during those years of thruth when they learned what it was like to be richmond.

Interesting to see plenty of Huff and Puff from the tiger fans considering that they are coming off a weekend where they drew less than 25,000 to a game at the MCG that decided whether they will play finals in 2008.
