You don't know what he's been accused of but you've already decided on the punishment?Seriously? Im not defending De Goey - innocent until proven guilty, but if guilty then he deserves jail.
Ive met De Goey and he seems fantastic bloke. Spoke to him for over an hour and one of the nicest footballers I've met.
How is the club meant to decipher who they recruit or not? Ask him before the draft if hes going to do anything wrong?
Its not the clubs fault at all. Eddie wasnt standing beside him egging him on. Its solely De Goey's fault.
He was bailed to appear in court at a later date. How long would it be expected to be before a trial now? Also excuse my ignorance but aren't people often arrested when initially charged with something and then potentially bailed?
Historical is a bizarre addition to the statement'An historical incident'?
Someone has added the word 'historical' between drafts in an attempt to downplay it.
Dude’s got screws loose. I suppose this was in 2015 so maybe he’s got his act together a bit since. We’re probably just getting the tip of the iceberg though. This does not surprise me at all.
but if guilty then he deserves jail.
well we have some kind of idea and its not reckless drivingIf found guilty, you dont know what exactly he will be guilty of.
as far as im concerned, any form of 'sexual assault' deserves a severe punishment, considering it isnt a light offenseYou don't know what he's been accused of but you've already decided on the punishment?
If found guilty, you dont know what exactly he will be guilty of.
Oh it was way back, before covid19Someone has added the word 'historical' between drafts in an attempt to downplay it.
Forget JDG, what about Adam Goodes, Steele Sidebottom, etc etc etc need we go on to say something is wrong? So you have got nothing to back up your statement.
For what? Reporting facts? If proven to be true I hope he is punished appropriately
If found to be innocent I hope the journos apologise
Which means its a De Goey problem.I'm not only speaking about this particular incident, but there's clearly something wrong with the amount of things happening at Collingwood. De Goey has had many previous issues throughout his career.
Often sexual related crimes even of the perpetrator is clearly guilty as sin (not eating De Goey is) it’s very hard to get enough evidence to prove it so it gets lost, it’s quite possible here that they were certain back then of guilt but just couldn’t get enough to take them to court but they’ve now got enough.Historical incident (2015) which was previously investigated and led to no charges laid (2018). New info come to light perhaps?
So you have got nothing to back up your statement.
They did just prosecute a reasonably well known religious fella who according to several legal opinions including that of the high court they were never going to win.Exactly, and particularly in high profile cases like this, the police and dept of public prosecutions would be reluctant to go forward unless they were fairly sure of they had a case with a decent chance of winning.
BTW. When I say high profile cases, what I mean is that with other cases, they might throw one or two iffy ones into a bunch of charges so they can offer a deal ("plead guilty to X and we'll drop Y", when they knew Y was unlikely to get a conviction anyway). That strategy isn't as effective in higher profile cases because dropping those charges can be looked at very differently.
He hasn’t been charged with shoplifting
