Based on that I’d say we’ll be getting a first rounder of some sort which is what I have thought would be the case all along.

This is in no way the same as the Treloar situation and nothing like the Suns…..so all things considered, a first seems fair value!!

I think you’re optimistically mis-reading it.

It may even end up being their future first considering this year’s draft is rated highly. Make no mistake we don’t have the whip hand here.

Yep. I’ve been saying all along that it will be Treloar v2.0

Forced sale. Only one bidder. Damaged goods. Was always going to end badly.

Time will tell. But with Jackson leaving, Melb are somewhat pressured to replace him. Dogs weren’t. I think a first is likely with us paying.

Laconic: effective communication using few words
Laconic: effective action seemingly with little effort

It's essentially a reapplication of the meaning/vibe of the original.

Words get recontexualised all the time. This is hardly an egregious example. Seems a fitting use of the word to me. And dictionaries are descriptive not prescriptive, they change with usage.

Literally being used to mean figuratively is an egregious example. Dictionaries are being updated with the alternative though.
Another one that annoys me is the constant misuse of "in good stead". It's "stand", not hold or keep.

He’ll be disappointed for sure but why would he leave? In a year’s time both Buddy and Reid will be gone and he’ll be the Swans’ number one tall forward.

There is no time for logic right now lol

Logan Mac, come on down!
Plus Buddy is playing for another season.

I would be into both McLean and McDonald and shake one from the tree.

People said McDonald is not realistic but I reckon it should be realistic
.

Haha just how I’ve been reading it mate but happy to eat my words should I be wrong when it all comes out.

Like us all we can only go off what we read in the media which as we know, can be way off the mark.

What I will say though, is that we all pick bits and pieces out of stories to suit our own arguments, just like you have with your point of;

“Notable that it says Dees will “hand over a draft selection” and NOT that they would hand over one of the two first rounders that they’re getting in return for Jackson.”

Whereas with me I think there’s 2 points that really stand out, which are;

1 - “Melbourne is prepared to deal fairly with Collingwood on Brodie Grundy’s certain trade to the Demons”…….now to me a second rounder isn’t fair if we are paying a significant amount towards his contract.

2 - “Grundy will find his way to the Demons and while only one suitor means there is no bidding war over his services the Demons are prepared to make a suitable trade that reflects his worth as a 28-year-old.”

A late first rounder reflects his worth IMO.

He'll be the sub surely or an emergency. Reid is very unlikely to play for mine.
