No chance Ruscoe departs imo, he was coming on well last year down back but has had a bit of an injury-interrupted season earlier this year and we've been relatively well-preserved down back this year so not many opportunities for him to get and then cement a spot.

Absolutely killed it in the last round against the scum, shame he couldn't back it up in the final the following week.

He's 193cm / 93kg and he's shown an ability to execute aggressive kicks in-board to open up play through the middle which is something Fly appears to value quite a bit. Not someone you give up on at the ripe old age of 20 I don't think. Maybe a Jeremy Howe replacement a couple of years down the line if he can add a bit of zoning off/ intercepting and 1v1 defending to his game?
Agree - I’m hoping 2023 is Ruscoe’s break out year.

But apparently I’m the one who doesn’t watch football…

I just don’t understand this height demarcation. Built like a KP player, plays like a KP player, given the KP role by his coaches, is a KP player. A difference of 1 or 2 cm’s doesn’t change that. Steven May was an AA KPD this year and he’s a whole 10mm’s taller at 193cm.

Because nice guys come last. To survive in this caper, McRae needs to be ruthless and I think he is. Clearly he didn't like what the delisted players brought.

I realise he is only part of the decision making process of who gets delisted and who comes to the club, but I'd imagine his voice would carry a fair bit of weight in the conversation. The Brown name is like Collingwood royalty but it counted for naught this week - not that I am opposed to the decision that was made I might add.
Get with the times. Steve Waugh and Alastair Clarkson are yesterday's heroes. It's the time for Bazball and Macraeball. Sure they have to drop blokes, but they don't have to be pricks. In fact it helps if they're not.

On the one hand that sounds great because it might be good business, indicates things are going smoothly, trade will get done… on the other you hope it’s not “basically done already” because we were a pushover at the table.
Not sure about you, but Wright doesn’t give off strong pushover vibes to me.

Checkers season was a story of 2 halves. Playing hurt the 2nd half of the year I reckon. Even then, still matched McStay for contested marks, beat him convincingly on marks I50m, and scoreboard impact. Career to date, Checkers is demonstrably the better KPF. Silly to suggest otherwise.
Yes, because Cekkers plays a deeper full forward. You can pick and choose which one to suit your argument, or just accept they play different roles with their teams.

This is from the Fox Footy website:

"It’s believed Brisbane were able to match the length of Collingwood’s offer, but not the money."

McStay is an unrestricted free agent, so Brisbane didn't have the option of matching the contract, so the $$ is pure speculation.
It doesn't sound as if money was the primary motivator in McStay's decision to leave.

I think they’re suggesting that if the Lions could have matched the $$$s, McStay would have stayed. Not that they could match to force a trade.

So $250-$300k of the $600k freed up by Grundy will go to Hayes.
Unless we get fantastic picks for Grundy, $300-$350k in cap space released is really not worth it.
I’d happily take the punt that Grundy will thrive under McCrae like so many others.
I'm not sure this is all about logic - what you say makes sense but I get the feeling it's as much about drawing a line in the sand with certain parameters - could be one or more of contract size/length , amount allocated to rucks/one player , team sacrifice....whatever.

You realise mcstay plays up the ground for bris? Comparing those stats makes no sense. They’ve played completely different roles
