So Ashcroft goes at 1 to Lions (GWS bid as they did for Quaynor and others)
Pick 2 Cadman (KPF) to GWS
Pick 3 Wardlaw to North
Pick 4 Tsatas to North

Doesn't that make Wardlaw and Tsatas the 2nd and 3rd 'best' (highest rated) mids still?
Wasn’t aware that it’s fait accompli that GWS select Cadman, but if that happens then yes they will.

Collingwood are threatening to hang on to Brodie Grundy after Melbourne refused a proposal to swap first round picks as part of the deal for the ruckman, which came on a busy day of trades which saw the Demons finally complete a three-club deal to get Luke Jackson to Fremantle.

Melbourne have refused to offer more than pick 27 for the two-time All-Australian ruckman, who is contracted to Collingwood for five more years on big money. Collingwood have offered to pay some of Grundy’s contract at Melbourne.

Collingwood had said at the outset of trade talks they wanted a draft pick inside 25 for Grundy. In early trades Melbourne secured pick 27, a selection Collingwood said is insufficient on its own to do the Grundy deal.

On Monday Melbourne received pick 13 as part of the exchange that saw Jackson finally land at Fremantle. Collingwood have proposed trading Grundy and pick 16 to Melbourne for the Demons’ picks 13 and 27. Melbourne has rejected this.

Collingwood could alternatively seek to revise down slightly the amount of money they contribute to Grundy’s salary in exchange for accepting the slightly later pick. The club has also said they are prepared to keep the ruckman and abandon the trade.

Collingwood are also in a standoff with Geelong over out-of-contract second-year forward Ollie Henry, who has requested a trade to the Cats. Geelong have offered pick 25, while Collingwood have said they won’t entertain anything less than a first-round selection.

The Cats have made a commitment to Ollie, his brother and mum & dad to “bring him home” to Geelong. I reckon that they won’t want to welch on that commitment and will find a way to boost the offer.

I think they’ll somehow find a way to free-up their 2023 first rounder to trade to us.
Possible option:
Cats receive pick 33 for Ratagalea from Port trade (rumoured pick 33)
Cats ontrade 33 to Pies + pick 25
Pies send either 41/50 to Port & 51 to Cats

Intresting we might yet Keep Both Grundy and Henry.

Though I very much doubt the Mitchell trade happens then

Now that GC have pick 5 can we do something to get that & f**k Geelong big time.
Fiorini is a salary dump, so maybe we could work something out including us giving them 16.
That would be awesome!
GC are only moving 7 because they had access to 5 all along. They still want to be in this draft at the pointy end. Our only access to a top 10 pick is going to be via Geelong, St Kilda or Carton. Geelong is obvious, St Kilda will take a decent player or moving our 2023 1st and Carlton will need our 2023 1st (no cap space).

Maybe we could smooth Brodie's salary out over 27 years.

From The Age. It's the first I've heard us say we might hold Grundy.

If Grundy did stay, no Mitchell. Though we don't really need him, Grundy is the extra clearance player.

Almost certain the Grundy deal will be done though.

Still 2 days to go so something could change

Possible option 1:
Cats receive future 2nd for Ratagalea from Port
Cats ontrade future 2nd to Pies + pick 25
Pies send 41/50 to Port & 51 to Cats

Possible option 2:
Cats receive future 2nd for Ratagalea from Port
Cats trade future 1st to Pies Thx AFL (as per mega deal)
Pies send 41 or 50 to Port & 51 to Cats
Neither are on the table unless Port finds another 2023 2nd because they’ve traded their 2023 1st. Geelong would also need to find 2023 3rd and 4th Rd picks because of the Bowes deal and the Brisbane deal to get 25.

Unless both Melbourne and Geelong fold cascading to pick 7 coming our way it’s players that break the deadlock now, IMO. I’d only move on it if it were S Neale or Parfitt, but 25 would need to be involved.

Grundy's clearances are hack kicks that go forward 25m. Mitchell's clearances are beautiful handballs to players like Pendles and Daicos

Grundog is livestreaming on the Gram RN w/Dylan AlcottView attachment 1531903Gotta say, I respect him so much for not saying a word through this whole debacle. Stand up gent, ripping bloke. I wish him all the best in his travels. Just not against us.

Not sure how much I can actually respect a bloke who is doing product placement for Extra chewing gum.
