Would Ollie nominate for the Draft and specify say a 1-year contract length at $500K pa?

GW downplaying likelihood of Mitchell trade….feigning only lukewarm interest to make Hawks chase us?

I think Henry deal will get done for picks 25 & 33. Clearly 25 alone not gonna cut it.

I get the feeling 33 wont change it.
Wants a 1st or no deal.

Spot on mate. Wish he had said something along the lines of “Geelong are aware that we require a first round draft pick for this deal to get done. We rate Ollie highly and are not willing to let him go for unders”
It’s exactly what I wanted to hear from him and it was on Barrett/ SOS who asked the wrong questions to tease that answer out of him. When he emphatically blocked 25 as getting it done they needed to follow up and ask what would? What about adding 33? Instead they pivoted to crap about Fiorini, Frampton and Mitchell that are all side dishes to the main course in Henry…

I support players being allowed to show vulnerability and understand that mental health is complex. But part of mental health is also learning how to cope with quite normal situations. To our knowledge, he's not battling anything extra that means he has to be in Geelong - it's a preference. I'm sure our player welfare manager will be helping him figure things out, too.
Another part of mental health is being able to harden the **** up and realise your parents misled you when they told you that you can be or do whatever you want in life. Make the best of a not so bad lot, and try to make a success out of at least a year or two more at a club that may not have been your number one preference, but is still a lot closer to Geelong than any of the interstate clubs.

You ok No SPIN? Now the real dance can start! My guess is we wanted 13 to work down to 7 so this might have been an acknowledgment that Henry won’t get done. It’ll be interesting to see what else comes out about how much of Grundy’s salary we’re contributing.
I’ll tell you after we watch Grundy next year.

But this idea he can’t mark, will never pinch hit fwd, and his body is stuffed, would make the Dees the most gullible team in the league for recruiting him.

Somehow I don’t think they’re that dumb, and sadly we’ve catapulted them right back into flag contention.

Why do you think we’re better off without him?

From Wright's interview I reckon the speculation we've chosen Mitchell over Fiorini is pretty well spot on the money.

Reading between the lines I'd say we'll be paying Mitchell more salary wise in order to give up less at the trade table. I only say this because he almost tried to say that we could barely fit Fiorini in the cap 🤯

I mean... unless Parish is coming 😂😂😂
Any mention how much we are paying for Grundy?

Just floating a theory. Is the Firorini interest falling flat about list spaces in preparation for the Henry deal falling through?

Could it be that with Bowes off GC’s books, they weren’t as keen to give us a decent pick upgrade along with Fiorini? Or we weren’t happy with the swaps GC proposed now that our thirds are all the way out to the 50’s?

I know it looks like we caved on Grundy but realistically if Melbourne is paying most of his salary then this is a win for us.

No it’s not, they get an AA capable ruck/Follower for 700k per 5 years for a measly pick 27 whilst in their prime window for contending.

We get to keep paying him anywhere from 200k up depending on the front loading done and get a pick that will be close to pick 30 draft day…..

Not to mention Treloar is still on 300k pa for a few more years too.
