Everyone jumped on the “we’re a destination club” wagon ey lol looks like that bus fell off a cliff
Another good player lost through s**t administration. Salary cap, and they still can’t keep inside a budget.

Oh well, what is done is done.

Some of the stuff that's written on here. :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

We can afford to keep him.

We would ideally be keeping him.

Adams wants to leave.

We aren't going to put up barriers to stop him.

The difference here is that Sydney are buyers we’re not sellers, so they need to make the offer suitable.

This has most likely already been discussed and agreed to some extent.

They’re offering an injury prone 30 year old, a 3 year contract. They want him and they’re keen. Not gonna try to understand that.

But anyway, they need to pay up or no deal. We don’t walk away from this going backwards.

What sort of non disclosures do players sign when they leave clubs? Surely they need to sign something about not giving away intellectual property. This is the only part of losing Adams that concerns me.

Won't be spoken about much but Aidan O'Driscoll (younger brother of Nathan) won the 20m at the combine. We historically take the kid who wins it (have since 2020). Lance Collard second.

What pick/round is he likely to go at?

I would ask the question of Will Hayward. Much improved defensively over the last two years and can contribute 30 goals or more.

If he’s on a decent back ended deal and we don’t bring in a similar $ player, then we can bring some money forward.

I would prefer a younger player coming back than a draft pick but let’s see.

They’re desperate for a flag. Lost 2013, 2016 and 2022
Yeah these two aren’t getting that for them. Adams wasn’t getting one for us. We needed Titch.
Grundy didn’t get one for us. We all want to forget 2018.
We played better footy last year once he was injured.
Melbourne was better once they put him in the reserves.

No chance for LoMac.

I reckon if we do request a player, it would have to be in that lower second tier, third tier player. Someone like a Sam Wicks. The Haywards, Florent types probably too far
That last sentence was tongue in cheek, but someone like James Rowbottom might be a possibility.

I know he is but you think Grundy is worth 33 and Adams a pick in the 40s , surely Grundy is a pick in the 40s at best
Melbourne will be gunning for a pick similar to what they gave up.

Grundy was fine when he was playing as number one ruck when Gawn was out.

He hasn’t fallen off a cliff or anything.

I would offer our first rounder next year and Adams for picks 23 31 and then bundle this years first round pick 18 with 23 31 and 36 for GC 4 59 and 63 it brings in our last picks in from 77 and 95 to 59 and 63 could come in 10 picks and I would love a top 4 pick than a top 10-12 pick maybe a Dan curtin or Zane duursma or Nate caddy or Riley sanders that’s where the future is have to give up something to recieve something make it happen
I'm happy you won't be doing our trading

Pies: North 2024 2nd round compensation

Swans: Grundy, Adams

North: Pick 23 (SYD), Stephens

Demons: Pick 31(SYD) & Pick 36 (Pies)
We give up Pick 36 and Adams for pick 20 at best meaning our hand for 2023 is Pick 18 and irrelevant picks after that?

Not a good trade at all.

Nick is good but could he really?

Tays issue was he thought he could kick like the greats, just needed to play to his strengths, not someone else’s. When he did was when he was at his best.
^^^ this 100%
Adams the incumbent starting mid was dislodged by Mitchell (one of our best in GF), who even before he played a game was given a VERY clearly defined role in the side and played it to a tee.

Could Adam’s have not done the same, or did the coaches fail to communicate his short comings? (doubtful)
FWIW our team is selected on merit and not seniority, no midfield games should be gifted at the expense of the team unless purely for development and resting players.

I admire and respect his contribution and wish him the best.
Ponder this Flag or no flag, was he out the door anyway?
