The Schultz move has obviously been underway for a while. Massive get for us. Expect Freo to play hardball - would we trade our 1st (currently 18 but likely 23/24 by the time of the draft?) Is that to steep?

Really offsets the loss of Tay as I think we can cover him in the midfield. As others have noted, Ginni must be feeling a tad nervous - would he be on the trade table?

As for Murphy - god I feel for him. Only a young guy and looks to have a real passion for the game and CFC. But he's a Premiership (never get tired of quoting this) player and if he retired which I think he should he will go out on a high.

Leaves us thin down back.

Note: My boss is a Freo supporter living in Melbourne and when I told him of the Schultz trade request he turned white - so funny

"Schultz triggered a contract extension this season after originally signing a new deal at the end of 2021. But the decision from Fremantle to delist him in 2020, so they could move him from the main list to the rookie list, means he is automatically an unrestricted free agent every time he comes out of contract.

ie. if Freo don't do a deal for him now (and he doesn't extend), then he becomes an Unrestricted free agent end next year

Puts an interesting spin on Freo's leverage ..

Schultz will cost our first.
Bank it.

Bell is only marginally less of a pain to trade with after dodoro …. This will be hard to get done …. Will cost a first easily … ideally if we can on trade the syd pick for adams … maybe we tell Syd to satisfy freo if they want adams

People saying this spells the end of Ginni need to remember that Adams is going, Sidey and Billy both well over 30 and probably only have 1-2 years left.

There is absolutely a reality where Beau, Bobby, Ginni and Schultz fit into the same 22/23

Not saying Ginni ISN’T going, but Schultz coming in doesn’t mean Ginni’s papers are stamped

I’d imagine we’d already had been looking for HBF in the case of Murph quitting

Wow …so he’s an unrestricted free agent next year…
This makes it even more interesting as the compo they would receive next year won’t nearly be as good as trade this year.

How’d they even allow that to happen in the first place?

That does sway it a bit our way.

Hard to make the case that a top 10 rated player in the league isn’t worth 2 late 1st round picks. Have a look at the AFLCA top 10 this year and tell me which 1 wouldn’t attract similar.
Beams goes missing in finals, and he was passed his peak, started to become injury prone. And if that isn’t enough of an argument for you, known to have mental problems (though I wish Beams the best, pressure from footy can only exacerbate it).
Not too difficult to make a case, I was against it at the time and was proven right.

Debatable. I'd imagine the compo would be pretty much the same as a trade now (end of 1st round pick).
