Comparing him to Stevo is just lazy. He is far more likely to produce more than a second rounder in this or next year’s draft.

I can’t blame him for looking elsewhere given his spot is under threat at Collingwood. Can understand him jumping at a 4 year deal. We can afford to hold fast on him though.

Nice backflipping there sidey after yesterday's potshot at me.

My favourite part is that now you think that a 20 year old with a year to run on his contract shouldn't be blamed for jumping at a 4 year offer from another club :tearsofjoy:

Except what has Grundy done recently to be traded for more than what we got for Adams who played 23 games this year?

What has 7 game this season Shane McAdam done recently to be worth a second round pick that's the same as what we got for Adams? They're 1 year in age apart.
Grundy has clearly been played out of position, that much is obvious to all but Melbourne FC.

Shane McAdam is a head scratcher, but as it’s Melbourne paying for him, that cancels out somewhat.

There’s so many clowns on this board. I can’t remember what I rewarded you with? What was my backflip?

Good pick up re 2nd pick. Not sure why I had it in my mind that he was No1.

Hopefully you are right but the wraps seem pretty high on one of the Camporeale, Beaumont and Walker.

F/S isn’t the leg up it once was. 2006 it gave Geelong Selwood AND Hawkins, nowadays they’d have missed out on Selwood.

Carltank will give up the equivalent of a first rounder for one Campo twin, and from what you’re saying, Walker the year after. Unless they’re a generational talent like Nick Daicos, who they shouldn’t normally have access to unless they have the #1 pick, it’s not a massive deal.

The major advantage for the tankers would be if multiple players, i.e. Campo 1 + Campo 2 + Beaumont all turn out to be good in the one draft, because the subsequent bid matches all end up bargains. If our history of Browns, Kellys, Shaws etc. holds, that’s not all that likely.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but that would be a change in rules on previous years. That’s certainly possible given there’s been calls for a few years to relax those rules arguing that it would free up player movement more and that it puts more onus on the clubs to manage themselves properly. But if they have changed the rule they’ve done it very quietly.
I’m with you and don’t think the rule has changed or that the AFL will allow flexibility this late. It complicates things because I would only do it if it’s a decent pick in the 2nd Rd by that I mean not the Brisbane F2 that’s been discussed from the Ryan deal. Upgrading 2nd’s could really go to shit because the way Hawthorn play they could bounce quickly. If extras are going in then our 38 and their 54 evens it up better, IMO.

Our F2 and their F2 is a good enough starting point in next years draft. We can still move 19 into next year and trade players for currency in a big deal on say Smith, Holmes or Callaghan.

Sellwood wasn't a father son but Ablett and Scarlett were.

Ginni’s 40-goal season was a one-off.

Since the AFL very deliberately and unfairly decided to single him out as a villain for extracting high contact frees, the flow of goals has slowed to a trickle.

Without the frees and associated goals, he has been exposed as slow, unable to get separation or take overhead marks, and unwilling to chase and tackle.

Those limitations will see Ginni playing VFL not AFL if he stays at Collingwood. Even moreso when you factor-in his questionable off-field behaviours and sub-standard professionalism.

More and more Ginni’s career path looks to be closely following Stevenson’s. If Hawthorn offers their F2 pick for him we should grab it and run.

I keep seeing this but can't agree. To me its similar to when a lot of posters were saying Henry wouldn't get a game at Geelong as he left

Ginny was fantastic in the early part of 2022 but he stayed solid all year. His last 10 games were at an average of 1.4 goals per game which is really solid for a small forward, equal to the best career year Schultz has had. In full games in 2023 he went at 1.2 goals per game. He for mine is likely our best scoring small and makes up for other shortcomings. I expect he will have more 40+ seasons,

The year we drafted ND I thought there was a rule whereby if you were going to match the points using 5 draft selections then you had to have 5 draft spots on your list?

This year I hear GC are being lauded for accumulating lots of picks for their academy players. Do they have available list spots?

I know, but if not for the F/S rule as it stood in 2006, Hawkins would have cost Geelong their first-rounder as he would have been the consensus #1 pick. Selwood would also have been taken top 10, hence Geelong would not have been able to acquire both.

Quietly hoping Ginni stays, but understand the deal if its a straight swap for their future 2nd. It evens back our 2024 draft hand, offering flexibility for bringing in more talent the following year.

The next man up behind Ginnivan on the small forward depth chart is Harrison, who really impressed me last season. I think we have a brilliant starting 23 next year, with a combination of some proven AFL level depth (Noble/Frampton/AJ), some hungry talented players ready to go (Reef, HH, Fin) and some exciting young players ready for AFL exposure (Allen, Ryan).

B: I.Quaynor - D.Moore - B.Maynard
HB: J.Howe - N.Murphy - J.Crisp
C: S.Sidebottom - S.Pendlebury - J.Daicos
HF: B.Hill - B.Mihochek - B.McCreery
F: L.Schulz - D.McStay - J.Elliott
R: M.Cox - J.DeGoey - N.Daicos
I: O.Markov - T.Mitchell - D.Cameron - W.Hoskin-Elliott
S: P.Lipinski

B: B.Frampton - J.Noble - J.Ryan
M: F.Macrae - E.Allen - J.Carmichael
F: A.Johnson - R.McInnes - H.Harrison
The only thing wrong with your team is that you spelt ALLAN incorrectly. Expect a visit from Fat Jesus.

If anyone really wants to know the definition of truly stupid, moronic and ludicrous all they have to do is quote all your laughable fan boy/girl fluff about Ginni through thought the year.

I'm surprised you haven't cancelled your account yet.
Cancelled my account? Account of what?

I've only seen you post comments just to argue with people.

AFL needs equalisation methods - otherwise we run the risk of bottom-dwellers never getting up. That is not good for the game.

Why does it need to be equal?

Some of the biggest sporting leagues on the planet don’t have equalisation and they do alright?

If what I heard this morning is true them I completely change my stance and happy for him to go. A deal will get done IMO and it may not be for the value we expect.
well, you're going to have to tell us now, you can't just leave us hanging

You may be right. But I expect/hope not.

RE the Henry comparison, apart from a shared aversion to chasing and tackling, Ollie is by far the superior player, with proven ability to take contested marks overhead and on the lead. By comparison, I struggle to see how the current version of Ginni, under current umpiring treatment, will get enough shots at goal each week to justify selection.

Billings. Memories a bit hazy but got he’s got neat skills, what’s his pace like?
His foot skills are first class, he's very athletic also. I think his pace pretty good but others don't. He was a top 10 pick who up until a couple of years ago was projecting very well. Injuries have hampered him for the last 2 years. I think in our club, fly could get him to play some fantastic football.
