As l said it’s how we treat 22. At the moment We need point to cover Nick, we got that, so yes a win of sorts, but it’s the moving parts of this, in what we pay for the two who want to come to us as well, then can we use 22 to our advantage
I doubt we have 22 by this time next week. I expect it would get traded down for 2 picks
It would have been better business to make an agreement to trade for 22 on draft night, given we’ll have to end up losing value trading back out and in for a useable pick, but yes, provided 22 isn’t eaten by a Daicos bid then it’s reasonable business.

I’m actually waiting for a shock announcement that the Hawks are trading Gunston to us for 22 and Lynch tbh.
I doubt we have 22 by this time next week. I expect they plan to trade it for a couple of picks in the 30s to provide some points as well as a more appropriate value pick for lipinski

Downgrading our future second from a likely early 20’s pick to a likely late 30’s pick for another clubs depth player is not good business.

I'm not prepared to assume that the gap between us and the Dogs will be as wide next year as this.

I see us bouncing back up to the middle of the ladder, at least, and I see Lipinski helping us do it

That 2nd round pick will likely be early 40's by the time Free Agency comp & NGA bids come in. I expect dogs to be top 2 again next season.

Summary of day 1...
Apparently Wrighty traded early so we can all relax, we have Nick and won't go into deficit.
Now the fun begins and we see what else he can pull out of his hat.
The Collingwood only thread seems to have worked well.
Personally, I found it much easier to follow without the distraction of who the other mob were splashing cash at.
Thanks to everyone for keeping it on track.

He went further than that and said "he will have to dominate from round 1 next year to justify the trade".

What a deadset goose.

Just a troll appealing to the lowest common denominator.
Or as someone else eloquently put it, "A shit eating campaigner".

Let it go man. What are you obsessed with me or something?
Nope. Just thought that comment was a bit rich coming from one of the most aggressive posters on this site.

I only Relax when the Kreuger and Lipinski trades get done

That would be a terrible outcome.

Did you see us finishing 17th when we traded pick 2 last year? If that’s taught is anything it’s that we should always assume the worst when trading future picks.

Very strange feeling being a Collingwood supporter and seeing smart deals like this completed early and without fuss.

Absolutely.

Trading our future second was always the likely outcome. We have talked about it all year.

The fact that we were able to get a fair return for it given we are desperate sellers is miraculous. If anyone really believed we’d get pick 22 for it before today I reckon they are kidding themselves.

That’s before we even consider the other picks which we can use straight up for Lipinski and Krueger.

If we split 22, anything lower than our next lowest picks would have to be used on Daicos. Say for example we get two thirties or whatever, they would still have to be used on Daicos. So there must be more to it than that. I think it will be good though (compared to the shite of previous years).

That's fine. Where’s the extra list spot coming from? I think we take a max 5 list spots.

Greenwood, Mayne, Sier, Cox & Lynch.
Leaves us with no ruck/KPP depth.
What part of 'this draft is very weak in KPP's' do you not understand??

We also have holes in midfield and defence with a number of best 22 retiring this year or next few.

Build midfield / defence in a draft that has appropriate talent and look elsewhere/wait til next year for KPP / ruck depth.

Because as it stands 22 will be eaten by a Daicos bid. We shouldn’t be sacrificing a valuable pick for points Dave, there are other ways of getting those required points.
Surely we trade that back out for a 2022 2nd round.
If you take the Daicos factor out…it’s a good deal (as a stand alone deal).
If 22 is eaten by Daicos…then not so good.
Hopefully we trade 22 back out…end result very good deal.
Let’s wait until trade period ends before we give the final thumbs up or thumbs down.

Question for you brainiac's that know the points system well.
Lets suppose Daicos got a bid at pick 3 or 4? What will that do to our picks that we have as of right now?

I’ve got the following:

Pick 3 = 22, 36, 41 and 43 to match and 45 coming back. Leaving us with 45, 46, 48, 58, 78 and 79

Pick 4 = 22, 36 and 41 to match and 62 coming back. Leaving us with 43, 46, 48, 58, 62, 78 and 79

Bear in mind we’ve got a lot of picks in the mix so I’m not certain with this and I’ve completely ignore the list spot element!
