I could see him getting a 4 year deal on decent money if he plays all year.

I can't see him getting that with Collingwood.

Carlton/Essendon would be my pick.

Four years? He's 29 and has never played a full season his entire career, as well as missing two entire seasons through injury. He might get a two-year deal on decent coin if he stays fit but if someone offered him four that's ridiculous list management by anyone.

Realistically speaking, he's an unrestricted free agent. I can't think of any examples of UFA compensation ever being decent.

Imagine having McKay and Naughton running around in the same forward line…
Probably wouldn't work out too well, they both need to be the Alpha inside F50.

I probably err towards PP’s POV, but we could then use Naughton back. A spine of Mihocek/ McKay/ Adams/ Moore/ Naughton is league best and can be built around for 5+ years. That’s the key factor in getting your spine right you only need 2-3 hits in a 2-3 year window and you can fill in the gaps from there. Sure you might get the odd hit every 5 years picking around the edges with speculative types, but it doesn’t set you up for sustained success.

Cal Twomey's latest phantom form guide has Bazzo at 33, so he is a player we could be looking at if we are trying to get back into the 2nd round after picking Daicos.

We partly haven’t had the top end picks to nab a McKay, Naughton or B King... where they were taken in the draft

But additionally, it seems Hine and Bucks weren’t big on spending 1st rd picks on KPP... preferring to take players later in the draft or as rookies and then try and mould them

We definitely could have taken Naughton.

Who do you consider to be the leagues A grade kpfs forwards? I think you can throw a blanket over a lot of blokes, and I'd include Mihocek under the blanket. Which to me makes none of them hugely valuable.

Kennedy, Dixon, Franklin, Daniher, B. King, Hawkins, Cameron, Reiwoldt, Lynch, McKay, Brown, Walker. I've probably missed some. Some of those guys are on the decline but have been performing at that level. You want them in their prime. They're the structure you fill out with guys like Mihocek and you're set. Also interesting to note the picks they were taken.

Restricted Free Agents need to be traded before moving. An unrestricted free agent may move at will. de Goey, to my knowledge, is a RFA.
You can always trade for a free agent, like the Cats did for
It'd be interesting to count up how many each have drafted.

If we're not including father sons, I suspect Cats are at zero. Richmond 1, Swans zero etc...
I'd include Reid for the Swans - Port is the other side that I couldn't find a quality KPF that had been recruited from the National Draft

From DH's interview, it sounds like we'll be going into the draft with 6 points carrying picks which cover "worst case" (Daicos bid at 1). Maybe this is where Adelaide's 33 comes in?

Ade 33 for Pies 46 and 55. After the Darcy and Daicos bids are matched, 46 and 55 will become ~ 41 and 48.

33, 36, 38, 40, 48 and 58 is 6/2431.

If Adelaide don't like the look of 33 for 41+48, potentially there's a sweetener involving one of our F3's

My guess is that the Pies will be looking to do another pick swap prior to the Draft - we currently have 7 picks that have points associated - as far as I know, if we carry 6 open list places into the Draft, we'll lose the points associated with our 7th pick (pick 58), so something like you have suggested (a two for one swap) makes sense prior to the draft

Delist Cox - create a 7th list spot - and then if we want to keep him add him back on the list in the rookie draft. That way we don't lose value by trading up.

That goes against what Hine said - taking 6 spots into the draft

I think that is a major point to take from yesterday’s interview with Hine. We are definitively going to draft with 6 spots - or in layman’s terms 32 on the main list.
This can only be achieved with either Cox delisted or Noble remaining on rookie list. With both included we are at 33.

I don't see why we would move Noble from rookie list unless we had to. So to me the 6 vacancies meant we're keeping Cox on the list (assuming Jen's inside word about Keane being cat b is correct.)

There has also been no word on Cox yet. I've asked Cal about it, so we'll have to see what happens. Given the deadline for contracts is 4 days away.

Agree, Noble remains on rookie list.
6 places open (assuming Cox signs next 48 hours).
Draft 3-4
Re rookie Chugg
Leaves 1-2 open places remaining.
There doesn’t appear to be any DFA on our radar?

Guess he Could Retire or put himself in the Draft IF he does not Re-Sign with us?

Noble can easily be elevated to the senior list after the draft or with one of the later picks.

6 picks, we’re talking about drafting 3-4 so that leaves us with room afterwards to elevate Noble and/or leave some spots open for players to train for a spot or mid season pick.

Given we have pick 2 in the rookie draft it would not make sense to not have a ‘live pick’ available
