Loyalty , spare me , be it individual player or clubs , loyalty is conditional upon performance or non performance, monetary invested for below expected performance return both ways . I don’t support individuals. I support the Club , most players don’t give a s**t when they lose , it’s the supporters who feel it , take a look after the final siren, losing players are smiling , giving their opponents nice teddy cuddles , whisper sweet nothings into each other’s ears . It’s a business to them . nothing more , nothing less .
Lol what a tool response. Grundy has made more of an impact at CFC than you ever could. I support the guys who put in 100% every week, and don't turn on the players who have a year out of form in a global Pandemic. Grundy performed well over his salary early on. Loyalty.

There is no situation where I am even close to being a supporter of Buddy being with us. Goes against everything we are trying to do, oh and we aren’t winning a flag in the next two years, news flash.
Agree, as much as I am enjoying this year, I hope the club does not get sucked into going after a quick flag shot by going after types like Buddy, rather than targeting sustained success.

I am not at Collingwood little tool, what a flog of a statement , I answer to those in my chosen field . Plenty of loyalty there as we are happy with each other.

I thought the biggest issue with Wright was the fact that Gold Coast had massively bloated his contract - in the year we were moving on Treloar, Stephenson and Phillips for cap space we couldn't take on Wright's massive deal without Gold Coast agreeing to pay some? Essendon only parting with a future fourth would indicate they took on the vast majority of his deal.
Nope. CG not only let him go for a token pick, but paid a large chunk of his salary to boot.
Fact is we couldn’t take on any deal at that point. Even one that was probably only costing $450k

I don't mind the idea of bringing in a veteran key forward for 2 years provided we also draft a key forward and use the time to develop them. I had in mind someone more like Dixon or Hawkins with that. But it only works if the contract fits and they get on the park. Buddy has the playing qualities still at his age but his contract terms and injury risk is all wrong for us.

Going off buddy’s injury problems, his age and our injury track record, if he even walked into the Holden centre his legs and arms would somehow fall off in the car park.

Our injury management has improved out-of-sight but why invite the injury risk irrespective.

We have Mihocek, Cameron, Henry and Kreuger. Back up Cox and Johnson. That should be sufficient whilst our draftee is developing and we are moving into contention.

We may need to recruit a gun, through FA, in 2024/5.

Cameron's a ruck, Henry is a third tall, Krueger can't get on the field and Mihocek is battling away like a boss but with no support. We need more in the position than we have which is why we're chasing McStay. I think vet KPF + draft is one different way to approach it. But Buddy aint the guy on that coin with the injury risk.

It could also lead to Mihocek or Kreuger playing VFL. Johnson having zero opportunity. Three years hence we have the young draftee, Cameron and Henry.

I agree it is a fine balancing act.

I think we need to use our draft picks and salary $$$ to target quality, and back in our system to develop the rest.
