I rate him, except his running. Rendell talks about Collingwood changing their recruiting criteria due to Patty Cripps. They'd crossed him off in his draft year because he couldn't run. SOS thought they could repeat the Cripps success story by trafting another talented mid who couldn't run. Unfortunately for the Blues, this one still can't run - he's an example of the reason why the Pies put a line through Cripps.
Cripps was a success story but we can't try recreating it with every player that lacks athleticism.

Haha GWS are ****ing dreaming if they think they are getting a 2nd rounder for Hill. 3rd rounder at most.

Re 3 firsts in a trade. Only.player I'd hand that over for right now is H.McKay.

It depends on the second rounder. A pick in the 30s is a pretty reasonable request, especially if it's an opening gambit.

Grundy hasn’t been a top 2 ruck for a long time. 3 years in fact. Potentially gets back to his best, but most likely won’t get close.
This is probably an unpopular opinion but if you look at Grundy's performances over the past couple of years and compare him to opponents his AA form is disappearing in the rearview mirror. Potentially he sits alongside Gawn and a fully fit NicNat but right now this is where I see him in relation to his direct opposition.

Behind: Gawn, Draper (spare me the last1/4 on Anzac Day, Draper beat him clearly in the first three), Sean Darcy, Witts, Goldstein

Matched by: O'Brien, Mcinerney, Pittonet, Stanley (can't believe that its come t this), Mcevoy (retired) NicNat (not fit) Nank, Marshall (still upside), Ryder, Hickey, English(heaps of upside)

Beats: Luke Jackson, Reeves, Lynch Preuss, Lycett, Finlayson, Ceglar, Stefan Martin (cooked)

What chronic injury issues does Grundy have to make the comparison with Hannebury valid?
It was a poor example. I’ll ask this is though, what’s Stevo worth atm? Do you think he could reach his 18/19 form again? Coincidentally his best form was same years as grundys. So what’s Grundy worth atm, and what’s Stevo? I’m just thinking out loud, but they aren’t valued at their previous form. Whilst Grundy is no Hannebery. He’s just come off a long term knee, and now foot stress fractures by all accounts. They would only add to the equation. We aren’t looking to trade 2018/19 Grundy. We are trading Grundy of the the 3 years. The same in that we aren’t trading for Tom Mitchell of years ago. We are trading for 29 year old Mitchell now. 4 years is a lifetime in footy and prob the length of many careers

We would currently have to trade a 2nd in to appease this range, both sides may be prepared to consider our future 2nd

I don’t know of any ruck that can impact clearances more than Grundy, potentially Gawn. In this scenario hes a 700k ruckman, the residual amount post trade. Grundy is better than a 700k player. The only way that makes sense is if we get some quality in return. A late first round pick isn’t that by my calculations.

Depends on Grundy trade I think. We already have 3 thirds and a first. That hand improves if Grundy goes, at which point we'll have have a fair few picks for this year's draft, but are likely to only want to use a couple of picks. In which case I doubt we'll want to dip into next year's draft hand.

I think Maynard was similar to Cripps, had some issues with his tank and running capacity.

No I won't spare you the last quarter of Anzac day , Reg took Draper down with the game on the line on one leg! You don't rate that then I don't rate you.

SOS wasn’t even looking at Cripps. MM made that call. Probably the only thing he did well at Carlton

2020/21 he was there or there abouts.

Yep. It was pretty easy to be critical of Maynard early on. But now he is an absolute competitor and a high level performer.

I see a lot of similarities between him and Stocker.

I’d give him a shot. Particularly for nothing as a delisted free agent.

No thanks - comparing him to Maynard is crazy talk given where Bruz was after two seasons, let alone four.

Stocker has no tank, a poor attitude and scuttlebutt is that his teammates are off him.

I'd say our recruiters rate players who perform in the SANFL and see Frampton replacing the equivalent of Keane, Kelly, McMahon or Madgen (whatever happens with list decisions) on the list. He will cost just about nothing. We get a taller key defender when we only now have Moore. Frampton is pulling in ridiculous numbers in the SANFL for his role, is athletic, tall, a great field kick and intercept mark - the query is his man marking, noting we generally zone. Low risk, high reward. I think it makes a lot of sense.
Out of interest have you ever heard of a player spending 8 years on AFL lists at 2 clubs, for 24 games suddenly jumping up to AFL level in his 9th season. It just seems highly unlikely

Rendell made a point with learning from Cripps, that those kids with poor fitness etc had to pass a character test. Cripps became successful because of his attitude and dedication, and the pies made sure Maynard had those qualities before recruiting him too. So the question is, does Stocker pass that test? From all reports no, but being delisted might be the rocket he needs to turn that around.

On-baller Will Setterfield has been told he must wait until after the trade period on a new contract and is attracting trade period interest. “

Omgggggggg, we have to be in there. He’s Lipinski type of purchase.

Must get.
