Geel have a similar age profile- and have bounced back after a season ravaged by injury last year.
They probably make top 4 - so your pessimism needs to be tempered.

Old lists can still be ultra competitive.

Geelong made out like bandits in the trade period in the year they won the flag. So much so that some trading rules were changed after they outrageously took Bowes AND pick 7 from GC for a future 3rd-rounder!!! And they took Ollie Henry from us too. We had no such luck last trade period and this one looks pretty barren for us too.

Well it seems I’m out of prison. Copped a few days instead of hours for the same crime (voting) for some reason 😂

in my short absence dam there’s been some hyperbole on here. We haven’t won the spoon people.

2025 another tilt. More injury luck we can absolutely have a crack. There’s no reason to throw the baby out with the bath water. The sky was falling in 2021 as well…

2026 Parker and Condon as free hits playing that cost us nothing. McGuane as a F/S. we can change the list quickly. Wil def have cap space.

I agree with a few on here, in the short term we def need speed/good ball use off HB. Transition from defence has been an issue. Would be great to add to that somehow in the offseason.

Can we stop the quaynor trade talk. You don’t trade low… he’s had a down season, but was excellent last year. Will bounce back
No guarantee we will get Condon, he’s listed to play for Florida again.

Don’t bank on softer fixture
That hardly ever happens

We will be in Sydney twice
Brisbane
Gold coast
Probably get hawthorn and Geelong Carlton Essendon twice
Dogs at marvel

Lock them in
Our 2022 fixture is testament to this.

We also managed to make the Sunday, 3.20pm slot a 'blockbuster' in 2022 also. Before that it was well behind the Friday and Saturday night slots.

I’d define making out like bandits picking up a norm smith medalist for a 2nd rounder and a KPF for nothing that won us a prelim. But that’s just me

If Melbourne and Oliver want to part ways, we could get him for peanuts.
His best footy is great and exactly what we need - it's a question of whether we could get him physically and mentally right.
I'd still rather Petracca, but that would be unlikely.
I’d love our club to take more risks on troubled players similar to Geelong. I don’t think we even considered Hogan, how handy would he have been the last 3 years for us?

The problem with taking a flyer on Oliver is his fat contract. Sure you’ll get Melbourne to pay a little but your stuck with him for 6 years at a relatively high number

Luke Parker’s names coming up in the media
Absolutely loved him early days whether or not injuries/age are an issue tho

Hogan was never moving to a Melbourne based club and back into the spotlight.

Yeah, we can't expect them to wait around forever until these older players decide to give it up.
Heppell did it well, he could have gone on, but he decided it was best for the younger players he doesnt, so he gives them opportunity and for the club to move forward.
Heppell was already being overtaken by young players, he wouldn’t have gotten much game time next year anyway and he knew it. From what Sidey has said he’s happy to play VFL next year and mentor if he’s pushed out of the senior squad. Our problem isn’t our veterans taking away spots from our youth, it’s that barely any of our youth is stepping up to the level required to make themselves best 22.

Hogan didn't want to go to a big club.

I'd imagine most who struggle with media scrutiny & have had off field issues probably wouldn't want to come to a club which attracts so much attention.

If Dees are still happy to move Oliver on after losing Brayshaw, Neil-Bullen & have an unhappy Petracca..I'd see that as a huge red flag.

We need him to publicly declare that he wants to come to Collingwood, otherwise Richmond will be able to easily outbid us at the trade table.

If there's bidding between us and another club, it won't be at the trade table. It will be about Hobbs's contract.

We did that the year BEFORE we won the Flag. Cats’ haul came in same year that they won the Premiership. So they actually got stronger AFTER winning the Flag. That’s not how AFL Socialism is supposed to work. They rorted the system, after which loopholes were closed.

That off-season the Cats had their own first rounder, brought in Bowes (former first rounder), pick seven and Henry (former first rounder). In a Premiership year! Outrageous!!! It’s yet another reason why I hate Geelong so much!

Exactly!
If our young players were showing enough, they would already be getting regular games.
That's essentially why Heppell has retired - he realises he won't get a game.
Even a young player in Hobbs can't get a game.
If we can shake loose Hobbs, that would be a good result.

Jay Clark has connections with Collingwood people, think he rarely gets it wrong. If he believes the Pies are going to join the race for Hobbs then it will happen.

The article says pies could look at him.
It’s a bit misleading

Geelong have their young players develop with patience in the VFL. The Reef and Fin scenarios are common at the Cats. Long would be three years in and out of a Geelong side. It’s only BF posters who think a player should have an immediate impact. A midfielder takes three or four pre seasons to be ready. Talls are normally ready around 25. I ignore the ignorance here.

Case in point Sidey has said he is happy for a young player to push him out and he will do all he can for the betterment of the club. Does anyone here listen to that?

We need to recruit well and top up but I have every faith the club will be in finals again next year.

Agreed. It's almost like some supporters don't take any notice of what happens at other clubs.
