I think that helps big time and even crystal balling into finals I think being able to stop intercept markers like Harris Andrews, Alir Alir, Jake Lever etc could be huge for us.
And might in turn mean Checkers gets Lester for large periods which we could exploit I think

It's game day and it's fair to say any rationale I may have had that we'll struggle to win with our outs or the result doesn't really matter has been thrown out the window.

It's one thing to manage players with an eye to finals, it's another if we turn up tonight without the motivation to win that matches Brisbane's.

I want the team named to deliver a fierce contest and to make these campaigners earn every kick.

A victory for us would open up the possibility we could meet Brisbane in 3 weeks time at the G.

That is something worth playing for.

Go Pies!

I’m strangely calm about this game. Yes we have a task with a few out, but I recall a final in Adelaide with bucks missing and licuria stepped up, it was the making of him as a player.

So I’m interested in seeing who’s going to step up tonight, with 4 to return baring further injuries, who wants to play finals.
That was probably one of the most memorable wins we’ve had. Was a huge gutsy performance. Helped that Port were chokers too.

ALL the pressure is on Brisbane tonight. They are expected to win and are the favourites with the bookies. They have an almost full-list to choose from and we are down our 3 most important players. A loss to us tonight would really kill their confidence about being able to travel to Melbourne and win and also mean they may not get the home ground finals' advantage.
I’m not sure what it means, but I’ve noticed it as well. There’s been a significant ratcheting up in pressure and media attention on them this week. No doubt the likes of Neale, Dunkley, Zorko and Daniher will recapture their best tonight, but I suspect it’ll be decided by pressure.

Like a few others I’m one that believes in Marvel suiting how we want to play and set the game up. Also don’t sleep on the weather as a factor. For most of the match it’ll be hovering around 7-8 degrees which is bloody chilly by Melbourne standards let alone Brisbane…

Re watching q2 and q3 of last weeks Geelong game, I think it has been under estimated how well we played with Moore out and JDG hobbled , with Nick and Sidey out

We dominated and totally overwhelmed them Could have been 50 up if we took a few more opportunities
Yep. That's the thing for me. If we cover off the outlets when they're kicking out of the back half and then bring intensity to the ball when it drops, like we did in those two quarters, the outs won't matter.

wtf? he was fine yesterday
Must have pulled up sore this morning

A few late changes! How many more changes can there be? My reported nonchalant attitude to games may swiftly change on the strength of this news. I have one more day of no alcohol while on an antibiotic that reacts badly with it. I timed the week's course to start the morning after last Friday night's game. Sounds like the whisky will be hard to resist tonight! If I never post again, you'll know why.
