If the Pies lose, the disappointment is that this was a wasted a opportunity and it could come back and hurt them later. A win could literally separate top 4 from the 5th, 6th and 7th spots.... it could also mean either a home or away final at MCG or travel interstate.

But coaching staff already likely looking at the spot they want to finish at. Staying at Victoria for the entire September would be ideal... and a 5th, 6th or 7th spot could mean that. Being top 4 and travelling to Sydney both weeks in the qualifying and semi would mean straight sets. Rather travel there at the preliminary if I was a Victorian team and go for an upset and hope Sydney chokes.
