After last week I really thought we were finally on track, even after the 2-0 start. Last week should have been the kickstart to the year. Not sure what to think now - just looking forward to getting a top 6 pick next year!
Given how Hine has been picking them of late, I'm not sure that's such a good thing.

We didn't lose because of the performance of Blair but the selection was all wrong from the beginning and gives a small glimpse of the failings of the coaches mindset IMO.

Blair was out for 1 week, wasn't in the bests in a VFL practice match against a side who lost by 180pts today and yet the coach thinks that's enough to warrant him being the carry over player heading into the match.

He never learns and it's looking like Tony Shaw all over again.

This board has a hard on for him. Absolute squib.
I've never understood how anyone could see a positive. They call him a bull. I've never seen a bull play good football.

2) Philips had the squirts but can't explain why they picked Blair. I'd argue Phillips with the squirts would have been a better option
We did wear black shorts

So yes

So, that's a serious defeat. We should have won but our deficiencies are really shining through. A few points:

Effort was really down. The Saints just out-hunted us after the half-time break.
We have a lot of poor decision makers -- Maynard, Crisp, Ramsey, Blair, Treloar, all could be a lot better. Crisp in particular seems to have gone backward.
Moore is sorely out of form. There seems to be no way around putting Reid forward, which means Dunn comes in. Also, Dunn can kick.
Elliot and Broomhead have both had interrupted preseasons, and it's showing. Broomhead needs a spell in the twos. Elliot probably could have played in the VFL this week and it showed too.
Blair -- look, he tries hard, I'll give him that. But damn if the game hasn't passed him by.
DeGoey had a lot to answer for. We need him big time.
Wells will have to come in. Because he at least can kick.

Sidebottom has a real shocker, jogged around all day, not much effort and very half hearted. For a supposed elite ball user he stuffs up kicks far too regularly.
Crisp has been extremely average all year, a few really shocking moments today, think that he needs to go out for Wells.
Moore struggling badly, dropping marks etc etc
Blair? Out for Daicos.

OUT: Crisp, Blair
IN: Wells, Daicos

It's hard to comprehend how they could be so flat after a 9 day break. No excuses apart from Grundy Howe and Reid who put in. Elliot aside the rest were woeful. The fit list really needs to be tested over the next 2 weeks especially with the short break after Anzac Day

Why are people still mentioning "work rate"?

Having 120 tackles weekly is not sustainable.
Manic pressure weekly is not sustainable:

Our game plan is atrocious.
It has nothing to do with "effort".

It's a buzz word the coach keeps using to justify his job- and piss poor one he has delivered for 6 years.

Wake up

Because the Saints totally outworked us the second half. So, yeah, workrate was an issue.

Exactly Ketchup.......pathetic.

Asta la vista Bucks!

So pissed of lucky I am on my second Easter lunch/dinner.

Happy F.....n Easter......this team shits me.

How I feel. I want to boycott until Bucks is Gone

Any chance we can trade our top 6 pick out for Freeman? That'd top off my season.

Okay I will try my best to stay calm.

Firstly the players have no confidence. They dont know where their teammates should be. We are a lacking a big forward. Perhaps we shouldnt have traded a certain player.

Opposition continue to rip through our midfield. The zone defence does not and has never worked under bucks.

This was legitimately the worst match I have seen us play under bucks. There are no excuses now. Full team, bucks team.

We have to start looking for other options. I am not saying sack him right now. But if an opportunity appears we need to consider it because unfortunately Buckley will not be our next premiership coach.

the frustrating thing is we were only beaten by 14...a few straight kicks for goal and we would have been right in it. Basically we wasted the 80% of Q1 when we were in full control...can't help thinking a few of the boys think they are way better than they really are....as for the Blair thing...it's truly gob-smaking..

Checking the stats as you do, on disposals our bottom players were all the forwards

Moore, Elliot, Fasolo, etc

Can't do the business upfront, kills you dead.

Meanwhile Winx is looking at her 3rd Cox Plate in a row, that should me busy :)

Without being too negative, right now I feel like I'm revisiting the Shaw years, except I don't enjoy watching Collingwood play now as much as I did back then.

What got me through those dark years? I would say a bit of (a) delusion and (b) tunnel vision. Right now I can't even conjure some delusion, but for tunnel vision I'll focus on Maynard. He is a maniac with some skill and a lot of heart, and sometimes it seems like he is the only thing with a pulse in a black and white jumper.

After we get rid of him..

Im liking the idea of Stuart Dew that was hinted at before... if we sadly loose bucks.

Dew a standout as coaches are coached

Bucks has to go. IF he stays we be lucky to win a game

And the positive morons who keep saying our effort is great, and the skills will
come.

This is team is not gonna make it.
The skills will come in 2037, if we finish bottom every year and draft footballers instead of athletes.
