I hope it happens too, and that he gets another crack at playing AFL football, even though we no longer have a hold on him.

I hope it happens too, as he knows the boys and knows the kind of position that he plays in the team. But as a non afl listed player, you'd have to make sure you are a regular especially in an afl aligned team. Wouldn't mind having Garry Hocking back as VFL senior coach, given that's what he was supposed to be in 2020 before the shutdown and associated cutbacks.

I thought he looked alright…
But maybe he realised he won’t get drafted, so has gone for the better work/life balance playing local footy
Melbourne is ripe for a 12 team super league… too many solid players not bothering with VFL cause of the commitment it eschews

It's pretty surprising we're this far into the off-season and still don't have a coach lined up for next year. Surely they have someone decent in mind, and it can't be much longer before there's an announcement?!
