VFL Collingwood VFL Season 2023

Out of over 100,000 members there would be less than 50 who seriously have their noses out of joint about this. Of those people less than 10 would actively complain to club. Of all of the members, not one is going to cancel their membership over it. So why would the club go out of their way to put on extra staff to cover a VFL scratch match? The interesting thing is that this problem could be solved by the very people complaining about it. So let's see who steps up and takes on the role of VFL preseason media liaison.

It’s literally this simple. One of the coaches sends a text message with the following “these people played well” 5min later someone posts that on Twitter. Nobody has said we want video or full coverage. If a bush footy club can post best players and goals in the local paper, the biggest club in the land can make a 2 sentence Twitter post.

Will “ team effort” suffice?😝😝😝

Have you written to the club about it yet?

Spot On.

Don't need an Article or anything like that.

Just Score-Who Kicked Them - Who played well

We can agree to disagree jasper. I’m not going to argue over our different views. I’ve said enough on the topic.
Sorry Stormskye, but once posters start with the "Not good enoughs" and then do absolutely nothing about it they sound like the parents on the sideline complaining about the Auskick coach.

Goodwill is the club's most valuable asset and it drives the vast majority of revenue. I hope that the club isn't silly enough to think about issues the way you are describing them.

You’re assuming this is something that’ll only impact the preseason games. History tells us otherwise. It all too frequently sets the tone for the season proper.

So we're set to find out within the next few days how our VFL list looks for this season. We've lost a few decent players, I suspect the list won't have improved, and will probably have gone backwards. I was hoping for another experienced player or two to be snapped up, but we'll soon see how we go!

Media Team does not seem to care about the Fans
They never have, they care about stupid content that gives them engaged and likes not actually information. Their jobs are judged by the analytics of social media not the actual content.

Just adding to the post re contacting the club re VFL updates and scores etc. I spent the last decade emailing them re posting VFL info. I received one reply which was a vague thanks for contacting us, we do our best blah blah. Some posters on here are brilliant with club updates, Jen for example and Dave are stars. Not all of us can get to games and rely on the club and people like them for info. The media team need to step up their game, even just wander out the door and look at the VFL score and post it, it’s not hard to do.

We have lost Wellings. Fowler and some fringe players. But gained Experienced mid Tom Wilson from Bullants, some talented kids. I reckon we'll do okay. But interesting to see the list.

The list will probably have looked stronger last year because we brought in some experienced types in Eggmolesse-Smith, Hartley and Jetta, but the first two didn't play much at all (and I presume they've now gone?). I'm hoping Jetta will keep playing, as we could certainly do with his experience. Wellings and Fowler are losses. I thought Wetering showed a bit, and was disappointed he didn't bother staying around for another crack at it. Losing Joyce to Brisbane (after it looked like we were getting him) was a bit of a blow, but hopefully young Eyre can play a similar role. Like last year we're likely to be rather short on tall types, key position players in particular.

Jetta will be playing. Has been doing so at VFL training, pretty sure he will be resuming that role.

Eyre I reckon could be a good get. Only 20, but decent height and build. We need some talls.

You put Dean, Macrae and Kreuger into a VFL team and it is going to look stronger down the middle.

Our VFL performance was always going to be contingent on the contribution of our senior listed players IMHO. Those not in the senior side and playing VFL were largely young and/or inexperienced, but many of them now have numbers of preseasons under their belts and should now be starting to deliver. Cal and Tyler Brown and Poulter bigger loses than the VFL listed player departures. VFL should be an exciting watch in 2023.

Not to mention, macrae, draper, Harrison were all injured recently.

Dont agree with all of this. I'd argue there are hundreds of fans who wouldve liked to have seen some player ratings & feedback on performance. & who are those people? Only the most passionate ones...

& the 'no members lost' excuse doesnt hold water. I'd suggest that we could sack the fitness assistant, and interstate talent recruiters & cut the list down to 38 players and you wouldnt lose any members. Does that mean its the right thing to do? no...

All comes down to how much service you want to provide your members and fans. & the club has fallen short in this particular area.

I'll say it again, its the only reason I miss Ed being at the club. He would hold the place accountable every day to service its fans

There would be thousands of fans who would like a Collingwood Channel with rolling live coverage of inside and outside the training facility. Should the club be required to provide that service as well just because I've now raised the issue?

What about keeping the cafe open longer and serving cheaper drinks to members? That would be a good way to service the fans.

I'm being a bit facetious but the truth is that all of these "services to fans" cost money and resources. There's a reason why they aren't provided and it has nothing to do with the club lazily neglecting it's fan base.
