The arrival of both Joyce and B Silvagni as backmen (was a backman most recently at Preston under Fraser) is interesting…

Conceivably our VFL will have all of Kelly, Dean, Wilson, Joyce and Silvagni to fit in down there

With Weitering gone… perhaps one of the above like Kelly or Silvagni gets thrown forward for a tall target up front?

Wilson was playing forward at AFL level before the back injury. I imagine that will continue.

Dean is a FRM Medal winner as a backman so can't see that changing.

Kelly's position will be dictated largely by Fly's plans for him, no?

A question. How does the standard of the VFL competition compare to other competitions in Melbourne and elsewhere. Twenty years ago I used to go watch the Devils play, when it happened in Hobart, and the standard was a huge drop compared to what I was seeing in the AFL on TV. Might have been a Tasmanian thing. Wondering because so many players seem to choose other leagues rather than the VFL.

There isn't enough money playing VFL, you can get more elsewhere. In a way they sort of promise the posibility of getting on an AFL list as a carrot b ut they should increase their wages for the commitment required

The AFL should increase the salary cap.

He was our best performing forward in the VFL, he would have got games Calum Brown at the very least.
He’s an opportunist tiny small forward.

Callum only had a few games last year and offers more in terms of pressure, intensity etc. did he even play a game as a small forward?

Fowler has never got close to getting on an AFL list. Brown played over 50 games.

sounds like he wants a bit more freedom, fair enough. I'll miss him, but wish him luck back down there.

The Tigers have confirmed they’ll have ex-Collingwood VFL forward Sam Fowler and former Gold Coast Suns AFL-listed Sam Fletcher full-time in 2023.

“The two Sam’s coming back will be huge,” Price said.

“Both of them are just a bit over the VFL system and they want to travel a bit in the off season, and when you’re in the VFL system you can’t really travel in that off season.

“Fowler is up in Darwin playing footy and travelling.

“Fletcher is heading over to Western Australia for a couple of months.

“You just don’t get that freedom when you’re doing AFL or VFL.
