Why the **** would Scott make it clear that he didn't want Wells to stay when a potential trade is on the table? Even being a free agent, the size of offer to draw Wells away from north would be much smaller if the club went on record saying they don't want him. Arguments both ways in terms of value to team between Harvey and Wells, I could see it both ways (although one is 38 and the other one 31yo)

You disagree that changing a coach buys time for the team to perform in the eyes of spectators and the media?

You haven't addressed the point I made in the slightest. Compared to teams with similar cycles and talent levels, we have well outperformed predictions.

Because in general people become better at their jobs over time. Brad was very raw coming in, and is still in coaching terms very young. In football lingo you might argue that he is just coming into his prime now after many years invested in him.
I have no idea what you're getting at with the free agent talk. If you want to follow a team that ditches everyone over 26 years old at once, you'll find a link to the Melbourne board above.

in the last 3 years one has played 70 games and one has played 30!

No, I never said that. I find it ridiculous that you would suggest an AFL Clubs board would use it as a reason to change coaches. Do you honestly believe this?

I'd argue our talent hasn't been developed. I'm not one to compare us to other teams that have underachieved. I strongly believe we have had the talent, and obviously so did the club, but we have failed to deliver.

In general, but it's obvious he hasn't improved over time. He's above average in games coached so it's arguable he'reached his prime. You said he's gotten better as a coach, did you see how he left Betts unmanned coming of the back of the center square? Crows have been doing this a lot this year and Brad had no counter for it, he actually must have thought, na we'll let their most dangerous player run loose and we'll have Nicky Dal (a guy we think isn't good enough to be part of our future) be our loose man in our defense! Sydney manned him up and look how it worked for them. His coaching is pathetic.

I'm pretty sure my argument is that we should have kept a 38 year old player. But you may have missed that, along with just about everything else bar the snakeoil.

A serious coach doesn't leave out best 22 players but will sack them? That's black and white. Resting old players from interstate trips is hardley unprecedented.

Yeah, I like a safe coach that takes no risks! It's debatable if Fray and Nahas gave us more than what a first year would.

Ask LT!!!

There's actually plenty of experience with out Wells.

See I find the clubs call of getting rids of all four to set us up for long term success as black and white. It's like the club made one decision and blanketed all four with that one decision instead of looking at each one individually. Anyway you look at it, the club would have been better off giving Boomer another year.
perhaps there a bit more of a cultural shift to it within the playing group, not just pure gameday performance. You can imagine with those old timers around some of the younger emerging players stay in their shells a little. Lets face it Boomer is old enough to be some of these kid's dads! I just feel that guys like Mason Wood could really stepup and become a real leader on the field and the training track now, rather than viewed as a young punk. Dunno but just a thought from a corporate environment how a certain "group think" perpetuates itself when everyone just goes along with what a natural leader thinks or does, rather than stepping up themselves.

so was it a good move by the club to release the news today of the signings only few hours after boomer posted on Facebook and twitter? Should we have held off for a day?

What difference would it have made?

Media and general public talking about boomers post which has to an extent over shadowed the signings. Especially being a favourite son boomer packs his bags north announces Gibbo and Waite sign on, just think it could have been announced tomorrow or Friday.

I tell you what a lot of the people on this forum would make great North Koreans. Some club media manipulator comes in spitting out the deeply flawed club line and you're all captivated as if you're getting some sort of special insight. You are getting what JB/Scott permit.

Too many permanent club apologists on here and those happy to accept mediocrity and 17 years without genuinely being good enough to win a premiership.
It all starts with the coach. And the fate of the coach in our case has been in the hands of a bloke that once made a decision to kit up as wonder woman....

Sorry to spoil ur froth buddy, but we r all supposed to be a bunch of individuals who r allowed to express our views and opinions on here without respite.
Say ur opinion without trying to insight a heated response or attack because u see things from a different pair of eyes.
Using language that cant spark a drunk isn't whats really required here.
Say it as u please without trying to stick it up someones clacker.
I respect ur differing opinion, and believe u have the right to express it......but don't have heaving out names and putting fellow supporters in boxes.
Thanks

I love Boomer but could we move on? How long does the club have to monitor Boomer's social media accounts and refrain from issuing announcements on the same day that he sneezes or farts? FFS scooby, are you having a laugh?

I don't see any harm in it. Sure it's great to have a few players re sign but it's not exactly major news so not sure what harm could come about from doing it.

Jesus, Dermie wins "Most Outstanding Special Comments" award at the AFL Media Awards.

Must be awarded solely on number of words used.

It will now take him a whole quarter for him to spit out one comment . The dribble will be out of control. Please I hope he doesn't do many north games next year

I am not fussed either way just putting it out there to see what others think.

I've checked with the judges. They said they didn't wish to create the impression that the award was based solely on the number of words used. They said the order in which the words were used was almost as important*.

* Thanks to Monty Python.

I feel sorry for him.

Poor bastard has never been able to enter any of those "tell us in 25 words or less..." type of competitions.
