Almost all AFL "journalists" wait until they see result then they create a narrative that appears to be insightful based on the observed outcome.

There can occasionally be a decent prediction, but almost all of the brilliance from these blokes is achieved with the benefit of hindsight.

Suppose the talls had worked and North had won - easy... Dunstall goes in with the narratrive that this is the success formula of the modern era, citing Brisbane, Melbourne and Ricmond as further evidence.

Honestly - 90% of sports "journalism" is utter garbage - just a bunch of hack scribes writing up the results and claiming that they have been able to unravel the details that led to the outcome. Fact is, the one sentence uttered above by big_e is as insightful as anything written or spoken by the myriad of snout in trough parasites that earn a living from football.
How many people in the AFL media picked Melbourne for the flag last year before the season started?

Of all the afl.com.au writers, only one of them had Melbourne in the eight last year - in eighth spot, no less.

So no one really. You could probably say the same for the Richmond at the start of 2017 and Footscray the year before.

I guess the Dees did come from nowhere. But after about five rounds they looked the goods.

In other words, they haven't got a clue, but after the event they can predict exactly what happened.

Mondays Experts.

Don't disagree but reckon Dunstall is one of the better ones.

I think they’re trying to create something like some mates just sitting around talking sh*t. It’s the first time I’ve watched it. Not for my taste. They’re not funny enough or insightful enough.
Cooney is simply unfunny

All the talk shows are “cultivated“ rehearsed garbage too. Any off the cuff remark is backed up by stats on the screen immediately. It’s a bit of a farce.

Couldn’t you just image the absolute mayhem that would ensue if they actually weren’t rehearsed?

Typical cool, mamby pamby, lemon in your beer revisionism. Sure, Franklin's a star. The best player of this millennium. But in terms of grabbing games by the throat and demoralising teams, none better than Carey. This wouldn't even be discussed if Carey played for Carlton or Collingwood. Or, in which way Whately's case, Geelong.
